I am trying to buy things I will need after surgery.

I already have a heating pad, lip moisturizer, gas x strips, and have been looking into blenders. I currently have a regular size blender, but I was thinking about getting a single serve blender, or a magic bullet, or Walmart has a sunbeam brand just like the magic bullet. I don't know which one would be best to get. Any suggestions on things I will not be able to live without after surgery?:confused2:

measring cups (so you know exactly how much you are eating), juice, sugar free posicles( these are a life saver for me), cans of Soup, sugar free Jello, measuring tape (to measure yourself every week), a notebook or journal so you can document your food intake and/or how your body responds to certain foods (once you are able to eat them), Mederma for your scars, Anti-acids, and a book or magazines so you keep busy in the hospital and or durin recovery. Those are just some of the things I needed.

Hi, I noticed your low BMI...was it difficult for you to get approval? I have Cigna and am just starting out of the gate. I also have Gerd, Pain in my joints, stress incontinence, herniated discs in my back and plantar fasiatis (fallen arches) all due to so much extra weight. My blood pressure is not high enough for medication, but is slightly elevated. I am just curious if you had any problems. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer....Kimberly

I have the magic bullet and I use it everyday but i would think any brands of this type would do the same job. What i like is the fact that it is single serving.

good luck

A grabber is important. It will be difficult to bend down to pick things up the first two weeks. Measuring cups is a big thing. Extra pillows helped me when I had to sit up in bed to sleep. Buy all your food for the first two weeks before surgery. Get all the bills paid and laundry done, that way you won't have to do much when you first get home. Throat drops for just after surgery helped me. Lots of movies. Lots of Water. Oh and someone to take care of you. I needed help getting out of bed and the car the first few days. Good luck!

I didn't have a problem getting approved because of my low BMI because I was pre hypertensive, and have a family history of heart disease. I was also diagnosed with borderline mitral valve prolapse. Eventhough this is not life threatening, if I had become bigger, then I might have had problems. My grandmother died at age 50 of a heart attack, and I have two uncles who have undergone heart bypass surgery...so all in all my future didn't look to good if I was to remain obese. I was self-pay though and didn't have to go through the insurance hassle. I had my surgery in Mexico, so it was so much more affordable.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
