My loss the last 6 months or so has not been so great. I was hoping to be down 100 pounds by my Bandiversary...but I don't think I am going to make it now. I just have to keep going and looking at the big picture. I WILL get there... just not as quickly as I had hoped.

Hi KayleighsMommy,

You sound alot like me. I was banded June 9, 2008. I lost alot quick then have been doing nothing but yo-yoing with 5-10 lbs for the last 6 months. It definately gets frustrating. I started at 321 and I am down to 271 give or take a few depending on the day. What have or havent' you been doing that you think is compromising your weight loss. With me my head isn't in it like it should be. I am not giving it 100%, probably only about 50%

Hi everyone,

My name is Tracy and I was banded June 3, 2008, I have lost to date 148.2lbs. My goal was to lose 150lbs the first year, I do not see a problem with reaching my goal. I started out at 373.2lbs. My new goal is to weigh 190lbs......so I have 35lbs.....well it will be after the loss of the 1.8lbs to reach my goal of 150 lost. I joined a gym in January of 09, I also got a personal trainer to help me. When I first started with the trainer I weighed 264 so I have lost 39lbs the last 4 months, which is about 10lbs a month which is on track. I am doing really well and should have had this surgery a long time ago. I feel better, have more energy, look better, I am now in a size 18 I have not worn a size 18 since grade school......no lie and I am 49 years old. It will only get better from here. I wish everyone the best of luck with their journeys.

It was great to find this thread and to hear that others have had some plataeus. I did great till Jan and have only lost about 6 pounds from Janto March and now I have been pretty much the say since March. I don't have a great deal of restriction, had a fill in Jan and had to have some removed 3 days later. Had a very little fill (.1cc) in early April and again had it taken out (couldn't get my own salvia done) and had a successful but small fill (.1cc) mid-April. I still don't have a ton of restriction like I did in the beginning and I definitly can eat much more than i ever thought I would. It is taking more and more for me to feel full and satisfied. I did add tons of exercise; 45-60 mins. walks 3 times a week and then weight loss yoga or power sculpt (biggest loser dvds) 3-4 times a week. So I have lost about 2 inches. and my blood work compared to 2 years ago is amazing and I am taking no more medication.

Its frustrating to think how easy it was the first 6 months. But I have lost over 80lbs and have only 35-40 more to go. I try hard to think about all the positives but it is hard not feeling let down, discouraged and wondering if I will ever get to my goal. I've never reached my goal before and what if I still can't do it? Anyone else having a hard time with this?

Kim,

Like you, my head has not been competely in it. I have not been really carefull with my food choices. I have not been completely crazy... basically eating wayyyyy too much fat (I was making Protein Drinks every night and putting about 3-4 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter in them, also eating the not so occasional peanut butter cup, and drinking a daily cappuchino .

I was doing fairly well with my loss, then went home to Michigan last year. I was there for 3 weeks and couldn't eat the whole time, I was getting so stuck. Came home and was no longer getting stuck... but couldn't lose a pound (other than the 9 I gained in Michigan drinking McDonalds shakes!!!) I did not lose another ounce for 3 months!!! Finally I said the heck with it and for 2 days ate all the candy bars I could get my hands on. Believe it or not I started losing again!!!

Went to Michigan last month and it is the same story all over again. Been back a month and haven't lost anything.

I have sort of recommited to my band. I am being really careful what I put in my mouth. I have never exercised, and I am starting now...slowly. I am charting my food, trying to stay around 20 grams fat and 100 grams carb a day. I am trying to eat between 1200-1400 cals a day (according to all the online calculators I should be eating 1400 to lose 3 pounds a week.) Yeah, right. I have found I am only eating 600-800 cals a day. I purchased a gowear fit (a little less expensive version of the bodybugg they wear on biggest loser) I am anxiously awaiting it's delivery.

So..... I am trying to go from giving 50% effort with my band to giving 110%!!!!

Feel free to PM me if you would like to talk more.

julie

Wow. That is so great!!!! So... it seems like the personal trainer has done you a lot of good. Not that you weren't doing great beforehand. Good for you!!!

I am so sorry you are struggling. I have been having a hard time too. The weight just seemed to melt off the first couple of months, now I feel like it is never going to go. I posted about the changes I am making to see if I can speed up this process (it is a couple of posts up). I know this is soooo hard to do. Just know you are not alone is this battle.. and sooner or later (and please let it be sooner ) we will win it!!!

I am so glad to read your posts..not that I am glad you all are also struggling, but because I have felt like such a failure. I have only lost 53 lbs and just celebrated my 1 yr band anniversary. I too have not done all my part to help loose the weight. I have only had 1 fill and that was months ago, but I am getting stuck at times. I am able to consume much more then I should and know a fill is probably due, but am afraid since I am on occassion getting stuck. I would love to chat with those going through my similar circumstance.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
