For me about 15 pounds is a size. I think it depends on your body and where you carry your weight. I'm down almost 35 and gone from a 22/24W to 14/16W. My foot is getting smaller too! I was a size 7 shoe at "normal" weight and before kids. I am a size 8 1/2 or 9 (or was), now those are getting big. I guess my body isn't distributing as much weight and my feet are smaller as a result.

I have lost 35 lbs and I am definitely down 1 dress size. Probably more like 1.5 though. So every 20 lbs sounds about right to me.

my weight is distributed everywhere, huge butt, legs, stomach, arms, everything.

I carry my weight all over as well. I've dropped about six inches in my breast line though. I've lost from my head down. First my face/neck, then my boobs, then my upper torso/ribs, then the HUGE SPARE TIRE...my legs are finally starting to show some progress. I went from an evenly distributed body to a pear. I know the hips and thighes will lose too, it's just frustrating since that is the place I hate the most

Leslie, what did you do to lose the "spare tire"? I went down 2 dress sizes, but I think that I could be one more size down, but the spare tire is in the way.

I really had two spare tires. Looked like two stacked on top of each other - lol. The one that was right under my boobs has signifcantly gone down - I have a little pooch there, but can actually see muscle indentations on the sides and can feel my ribs. I can't believe it! As for the second spare tire. It is still there, just smaller. I had two c-sections and fear it will take PS to get rid of it.

I've been doing a lot of walking 3-4 days a week. I think that has made a big difference. I've never walked so much in my life. Before surgery, when I'd lost weight I'd gone to curves, but lost in different places, but my stomach last.

I've started swimming and playing racquetball on days that I don't walk. I need to hit the weights at the gym (I go to the Y), but am waiting until after my revision to make sure my port is not digging into my muscle. Right now it still hurts if I aggrevate my beast/chest muscle.

I've lost just about 50lbs and gone from a 24 to a 16/18. I'm 5'1" (5'2" if you ask my surgeon, who I think must have some whacked out ruler). My biggest problem area is the 'kangaroo pouch'. Two c-sections didn't help the matter, either. :smile2:

I've lost 40+ pounds and have gone down 2 shirt/blouse sizes and 1.5 pant sizes. 2 dress sizes depending on the way it's made. I carry most of my weight on the bottom half and tend to lose from the head down as well. I think it just depends on your body type, how much muscle mass you started with and your height. Simply put, everyone is different. Good luck to you.

I think everyone is different.... It depends on exercise, muscle mass, toning, bone structure, height, etc. But for me.... 15 lbs = one dress size. I've lost 57 pounds and have gone from a 24 to a 16. I have also noticed that I'll find my clothes to be looser, but the scale will show no loss at all. I chalk that up to building muscle from exercising. I don't worry about that to much.

Thanks Leslie.

I usually walk about 2-3 miles a day (6 x's a wk). I can see the legs and thighs leaving, but the "pouch" tends to want to stay with me. lol

I was determined today to walk 4 miles, but only made it to 3 1/2 which I'm still proud of myself. I am going to try and do some strength exercise (with the weights and riding my bike in the evening). I've lost about 45 lbs. but I'm a little disappointed cause it will be a year in August. One of my dr's said that I am probably losing inches which is still good. I don't understand about the "muscle thing" (gaining muscle). I guess I'm a slow loser. I am trying sooo hard to make it under 200. I try to get in good Protein and I'm trying to quit the "healthy" Snacks even though I was told I could have them, but I'd like to try and eat my meals w/ no snacks.

I've lost about 40 pounds. I started out in a 18/20 and you know some 22's if I got them from a cheap store. But now I am in a 14/16 Juniors which I guess can constitute about 2 sizes since I was always wearing women's plus before. I have jeans in a size 14 that I purchased recently but all my old jeans are a size 16 anything larger just doesn't fit. I hope to lose another 20 pounds before August so that I can fit in a 12.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
