Question to all on their First Fill..

Recommended Posts

I just had my first fill yesterday and boy am I restricted. Wondering how much was your first fill and do you eventually loosen up? I was on liquids yesterday and soft foods today but can't seem to keep anything down, feel really tight! I think she told me 1.75cc's on the first fill?

Thanks,

Corgi

Corgi, I had 1.1 on my first fill

If you can not keep anything down, call your doctor and tell her, you do not want to become dehydrated, having as little as .2 -.3 cc's removed can make the biggest difference in comfort and being able to keep food down but still offer good restriction. Not to mention you do not want to do damage to your esophagus by being too tight. Or experience reflux in the night.

Every doctor has different rules for after a fill, my doctor has me on liquids for 3 days after a fill in case of swelling from the fill.

Best of luck to you

Harley Nana,

I think the Nurse said 1.75cc's I thought that was too much I have to call tommorrow. I have been pb's after 3 bites at lunch and then tonight, too much I think.. My band is a 9.75

La_madam,

They said liquids for 3 days and I started eating today, that's interesting that the fill makes you swell, that's probably what it is but I will call tomorrow.

Thanks!

My first fill was to 3cc's but I have a 10cc band. I am now at 5.5cc's. I have never felt too tight. Had My 3rd fill today and am on liquids for 24 hours. Hope I have good restriction when I eat real food again.

COrgi,

A fill is a very individual thing. My first one was 1.00 and a week later I was bumped up to 1.75. I had no restriction at 1.00. I do not have the swelling issues after a fill that some people talk about. I always test with a bowl of thick Soup. If this goes down OK, then I try a mushy food and then a solid by the end of the day. My doc only requires that I go the rest of the day on liquids or mushies. Sounds like you might be too tight though.

This last fill I had was VERY tight. I could not eat anything for about a week, just Clear Liquids, then I went to mushies for a couple of days, then on to solids, and still not much. Kind of like a "mini starting over".

My doctor recommends treating every fill as if you just had surgery as your body needs time to adjust to the fill. I have learned the hard way to take his instructions, I am at 2 cc's now and just last night notices that I'm loosening up, (had my fill mid March), finally got more than a couple of spoonsfuls of food, so hopefully I will not need another fill for another month. Stay on liquids a couple of days to see if your swelling goes down, if you are having trouble keeping liquids down, you definitely need to see the doctor, but my suggestion to you is if you have no problem w/ liquids just wait a while to see how you feel. (fyi- warm liquids feel better after a fill, than cold).

I just called my doctors office, and Yes my first fill was 1.75cc. They told me to stay on full liquids for a few days, then mushies for 3. See I wasn't told mushies for 3 days also. I do feel better today, no pb's and no vomit but I am taking it real real easy.

Thanks all...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
