Warning....Venting ahead!

I am so ticked off and hurt by my stinkin' family (extended as in Grandma, mom and sisters). Why do I get all the crap jobs and stuff to do and none of the praise, the holidays etc. I've been venting to DH all morning on the phone and he said, no wonder you have 'not good enough issues, etc.' I can really see where it comes from in your family from 2 generations. And then I feel so guilty being so mad at a 101 yr old grandma. Nuff said w/o going into all the details, but I am thinking of pulling back on all I do and letting my sisters deal with it all, and I will just fly in once a month to visit her. I feel so used and taken for granted. When I speak up, I'm the one that's unreasonable, etc. It just sucks!

Apples, that just sucks (or shall I say blows with all the gas they pumped in) about your colonoscopy prep. At least it is done now. Glad you had it done especially since they found a polyp. I am on the every 5 yr plan myself even though they didn't find a polyp, my dad gets lots of them. Not sure where the MSP dream came from, DH was asked to go there just before we came to SLC though.

Janet, thanks for the popcorn info. It's something I just gotta stay away from even the healthier kind, it just triggers something in me and is a major red light food. It will not be replaced in my pantry.

LauraK, is it getting serious already with this new guy? Hope it works out for you.

Phyl, did you make it to Water aerobics on time? Question on the 'motor homing', do you get claustrophopic after the winter? I'd love to do what you are doing in about 10 yrs, but not sure how I'd do in an RV for a long period of time. Granted, many of them are huge, but doubt we'd get that huge of one. How long have you done it?

Lori, No it's not getting serious. I was just joking around with Phyl. No dates No nothing lined up.

Sorry about the family issues. Yeah that sucks that they put such pressure on you. You do it they complain. Just like the songs says "bless their hearts"

Great...your idea of pulling back and letting your sisters who live within driving distance of you DGM take care of her errands, etc. might be a good one. Let them take over that role. Sometimes when it comes to judgemental family members, you lose before you even start the game. PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN. Don't give them the opportunity to pounce. Love your grandma up and make your scheduled visits happy ones without the crap. You did all the caretaking when you were in Denver. Let them handle it unless you think your GM is not being taken care of.

I'm feeling pretty good except for the gas and have been walking since I got home in order to get rid of it. The worse part of this morning was that the doc went out into the waiting room and royally chewed on DH (yelling and very animated) accusing me of not following his prep. BS. DH told him I did it exactly per his instructions. When he started mentioning the Clear Liquids for 48 hours, DH showed him the info I had which included none of what he was talking about. No apology to DH though. He just went back to his office and threw a blue folder at him with the info I SHOULD have gotten. Like I stated earlier...won't schedule him for my next one.

What kind of popcorn did you eat that you are feeling so badly about? I thought it was the reduced fat one. I know you have said that popcorn is something you feel out of control when it is in your house. I have to have my popcorn fix each night. I eat an entire bag (reg size...not 100 cal) all by myself. And, yes, I don't so much have to worry about the cals but I do eat the healthy low fat kind. I absolutely cannot eat the yucky/gross fat loaded ones. I often use my air popper, a little spray and cheese shaker on mine.

Janet...thanks for posting that food site. A nice one to have for everyone.

That doc is the one and only surgeon that does the procedure at our clinic. I will drive the 70 miles to another b/4 I would have him again.;)

Apples, I kinda thought that was a pre-prep. Miralax sometimes takes two days to work. Oh, well, at least you are good for another five years.

Now, where is your FIL living? I must have missed that post. Is he moving to AZ?

Our flight was changed to tomorrow afternoon since Continental and United merged. They sent us an email notice today. NICE! Oh well, Charlie won't have to be gone and extra night.

Lori, I will take a pic, but if I go out on the Skywalk cameras are not allowed. Still don't know if I am going on it. I think it is 30 bucks.

Linda.....so glad you checked in. Good for you on the pouch test!

Phyl, Yep, gonna win that Jackpot this time!

FIL and MIL lived in Arizona City for 6 months out of the year for 17 yrs after retirement. They quit going about 10 yrs ago when she went on dialysis and he missed it terribly. He is taking his motor home and going to stay in the same resort where they had their home that they sold. He loves to camp in the desert also so the motorhome will be ideal for that and hoping that my DH will take some time to go camping with him.

Sorry for your change in plans...hope you can fit all the fun into the shortened time period.

Lori, I just read your post. I think going to see grandma once a month for a visit is a great idea. If you go more to see DD don't let them know. Your DD and you have a lot to plan for grandbaby. I know a little bit about how you feel. My sister is on her second back to back cruises. We planned our Vegas trip a month before she planned her cruise. I do not like to leave my mother without one of us being here. Her take on it is ....I am in Vegas and can fly back. Anyway, I got a first cousin to check on her. You need a break, and the only way they will step up is for you to step back. HUGS!

Janet.....thanks for the new food site!

Janet...I agree on the diabetic eating stance that you take. Even though DH is not a diabetic, both his parents are/were. I am very careful how I pack both DH and DS's lunch box. A treat once in awhile but 98% of the time all our meals are well-balanced and are void of a lot of starch and sugars. (Until 3 yrs ago, this was not the case).

Any baked goods are for special occasions and usually go to the freezer or out of the house because they are too much of a temptation for DH. He is within the weight range that he should be in and always has been but if it were up to him, he would eat crap every meal and I believe would steer him right down the trail both his parents experienced with diabetes and the other health problems that come with it.

Thanks for the support Apples, aRlene and Janet. You are right I do need to step back, just gotta figure out how to go about it. My sisters do take care of her but are more than willilng to let me do the mundane stuff. They about panicked when I mentioned before moving about them doing her banking etc. Well now they have gotten themselves added on to her account 'for convenience' so now there's no excuse. one of the things I am upset over is where Grandma spends holidays. Every holiday since moving she has spent with them. Every time I ask I get the same old lines how she doesn't make plans or promises and then as the holiday approaches says I promised your sister, or I don't want to interfer on your family etc. So DSis is having Thanksgiving dinner. I am not even invited. However, was asked today if I would pick up grandma and bring her to their place as it would 'really help out' Are you freakin' kidding me??? Now how do I tactfully reply? If I say what I really want to say, then it will blow up, mom will get involved, Grandma will be hurt, etc. I just don't know. But I did not drive 600 miles for Thanksgiving just to help them out! I will have Thanksgiving with my inlaws anyway, but it would've been nice to have been invited and would've tried to work out to be both places. GRRRRRR Oh and already after we asked Grandma to spend Christmas eve with us, she is committed to my sisters as well, and you guessed it, we were not invited.

How rude! They can pick up Grandma! I know......you are too sweet to upset GM. 101.....wow! She is going to be a great-great when DD delivers.

I just told my DSis (and D in this case is not for Dear!) Sorry but no I won't be able to. She doesn't even need an excuse (which I have plenty of LOL number one Grandma can't get in my SUV it's too high).

On another note, Apples, I've been meaning to ask, I probably missed something when I skimmed posts after being gone. When and where in AZ are you going? I know in Vegas you were talking with Eva about renting a house of her's. Sounds fun and a good break from the cold for you.

Good job on holding up again Damned Sis...there...I spelled it out for you. Rotten behavior on their part. I am sure your GM doesn't want to be in the middle of sister stuff and they should smack themselves for doing so.

I will PM you tomorrow on the AZ thing

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
