Thanks, Cheri! Very insightful comments. I agree... so glad they're not terminating!! DGS mother did many times and I'm sure I should have a few more grandchildren if she hadn't! That was her preferred method of birth control! She was not faithful to our son.... long story. They're still not divorced but haven't seen each other in about 10 years or so. Talk on the phone often, though.

Wel... enough of that!! We had a WONDERFUL Christmas Eve.... attended candlelight services w/both our daughters.. 50 miles apart but we pulled it off and even had dinner with both of them after the earlier service. Sitting around in pjs for now, but will be going over to our daughter & son in law's in about an hour for quiche and a quiet morning with them before the onslaught!! HAHAHA!! DGD & her boyfriend and their two dogs will be coming later. And SIL's older daughter from his first marriage will be coming with her DH & 2 little ones.... so, actually we already have FOUR step-great-grandchildren! Her two and her brother in CA has two. DGS is a fireman/EMT and has to pull a 14 hr shift in the hospital ER where he works (has 3 jobs actually! hospital plus 2 part-time FD jobs.) We may be seeing his GF later, but, sadly, she moved out on him yesterday. I think they're trying to work things out, but.. after less than a month of living together she has decided she wants her freedom! Go figure!

Lori... so very glad to hear DD is okay!!! We were all sending a LOT of prayers her way!! God is good!!

Well, gang.... Again... hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Christmas Day!! I better get off here and make some more phone calls. So far only talked to our DGS in OK... Cody. He lives with his other grandma. It was 9:30 a.m. and he was up by himself playing with his toys and she was still sleeping. He's 10 years old and a real sweetie.

Oh... gotta tell one more story! After service at youngest daughter's church we went back to their house for dinner. I always hang my coat on the end of the banister either at the bottom or the top of the steps going up to the living room/kitchen. I was wearing a purple jacket. So when we left.... took purple jacket off the banister at the bottom, threw it over my shoulders because it was raining but not really too cold so didn't put my arms in the sleeves. I get all the way back to DD#2's house, take it off and discover it's not my coat! It's DD#1's coat! Same color as mine! So I called her and I had to take some teasing.... I'd had NOTHING to drink, honest! Then she says, well, you can have it if you want it. But, I don't think it'll fit you because it doesn't fit me very well anymore! (She's probably at highest weight I've seen her at.) So, with my nose a little bent out of shape, I decided to try it on after I hung up!

FITS FINE, thank you very much!! HAHAHA!!

Merry Christmas Everyone....

First off, I am so glad to hear that Lori's DD and G baby are doing so much better. Will add my prayers to keep it going in that direction.

I had a great time with my family last night and my kids this morning. Now it is time for peace and quiet while they are gone to their other families.

Peace and love to all.

It is 12:20. My guests left at 11:45. They started coming at 6. My husband thought that if he left his car parked in the garage instead of on the street like I suggested that when he had to leave for work between 10:30 and 10:45 they would all leave. Ha. They moved their cars to let him out and came back in. I had introduced them to the game "Catch Phrase". They loved it and didn't want to quit. Then they took family pics. Then they went and collected and shared the leftover food, of which there was a lot. With everybody bringing, Ken and I had overbought and they all overbrought. Especially our son-in-law who is a real foodie. Gift exchange went great. $10-15. We were going to do the Yankee Swap but everyone liked their gifts so we all kept them. My grandaughter (the only GK on my husband's side) was the belle of the ball. She'll be 3 in May and is smart as a whip. They all told me to bring "Catch Phrase" to every family party from now on. The younger adults at the party loved the game as did the older generation. I also had them bring their own booze so nobody was feeling any pain. I am pooped. Got all the perishables put away and will leave the rest of the mess for tomorrow. May actually sleep in tomorrow. I've been waking up between 5 and 6 whether I want to or not. But now I'm truly tuckered out.

Cheri

Oh Cherim, I am so glad you all had a great family time.... You brought back memories when you mentioned CATCH PHRASE... that is an awesome game... and all ages can play together... we`ve had many, many fun family times with it...

My 87 yr old Mother plays.... but she likes to CHEAT... she starts PASSING the contraption BEFORE she`s gotten the clue... too funny!!

Have a blessed day.,

Hey guys

Well, today was a drag. I'm so happy for everyone and that you had such a great Christmas with your families. The only people really left in my family to have Christmas with is Dad, and sister. Dad was in Canada and Sister in L.A. My kids were at their dads this year...it was dads turn for Christmas since we had them last year.

A very lonely Christmas indeed. It was just us and we just had a quiet day. No dinner, no presents, no kids, no nothing...i laid in bed part of the day just feeling sorry for myself but then got up, played my game a little and got on lbt and read some stuff in the forums.

I made Curry chicken for dinner, very lite and nearly fat free. 9 points total for a serving. Yummy and good for you. Here is the basic recipe:

Curried Chicken

2 Onions peeled and diced into medium pieces

I clove of garlic diced

2-3 Cups of skinless boneless chicken Breast cubed

1.5 cup up fresh carrots (sliced carrots)

1 cup of green peas (frozen is best)

1/2 cup of rasins

2 cans of fat free chicken broth

1/8 cup of flour

3 tablespoons of Mild or Hot curry powder

Directions: Cut up Chicken into cubes and saute with Onion and garlic pieces. Add a little curry tossed into the garlic, onion and chicken. When chicken and onion are cooked add Carrots, peas and raisins. Add broth and remainder of curry powder. Cook until veggies are done (soft) and then put flour and about 1/16 of a cup of Water into a shaker. shake the flour and water. Slowly pour into curried mixture to thicken to your desired thickness.

Super easy and super good. If you have any questions let me know im not a recipe writer haha im not sure of all the correct terms for the different ingredients. It serves about 5 people. I use about 1 cup of the mixture as a serving. I put it over rice about 1/2 cup of rice then pour the mixture over my rice. Its yummy. You can buy pita pockets too that are great with it. i know you cant eat as much as i can right now of course but its super low fat for anyone who hasnt had surgery yet. If you get the mild curry there is no spice to it either for those who have had surgery already.

Anyway, it sounds like everyone had a great Christmas, it was really weird not celebrating this year...we used to have some really nice family Christmas's. With Mom gone its just not the same.

Laters,

Tina unsure.gif

So for the first time since 1880 we had snow in GA on Christmas day. We got 3 inches yesterday (I leave in Northern GA the Gainesville area) with more coming today; actually it is snowing a little right now. I know not a big deal for those of you that live in snowy areas however GA pretty much shuts down when we get this much snow since no one knows how to drive in it I guess. Being from Fl this is a fun a rare event and it is so pretty if I can get a picture posted I will.

Janet - that is a cool article to find on Christmas and it was interesting to read as well

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
