Evening ladies....for as tired as I was yesterday, I didn't work too hard today. Took my sis to the airport and went to Mescal to pick up my camping box. Went back to work and could not focus on anything, then DH called and we went to Ultimate electronics and listened to speakers. Ours are failing. Anyway, we saw a 55" TV that was $6,300.00. I couldn't imagine a TV being that expensive, but oh my, what a picture...it was truly amazing. I can't afford a $6,300.00 TV, but I hope that technology gets really popular and the price comes down. I've never seen a picture that clean, clear, and defined on any screen. It was a Samsung and one of the ratio's was 6million to 1 where most TV's are less than 1/2 of that...hence the great picture.

Jessica...it is hard in between semesters...is there something you can find to do that can keep you interested until school starts again? Maybe find out what your books are for next semester and start reading ahead?

Linda, I think I stayed in the Riviera a few years ago, before it was renovated and it was pretty nice then. The Tropicana is a dump at least as far as the rooms go. It is cheap however. Excaliber is too much like Circus Circus, but I haven't heard anything about the rooms. All the casinos are linked these days. You can walk from the Luxor to Ceasars and beyond (towards downtown) They have it set up so you walk over the streets and then there is shopping between the casinos in these long malls. You can walk for miles without going outside. I haven't stayed at New York New York either. I'll look into some of it too.

Lori, wow already a little weather excitement. Glad you got the concrete issue settled. You'll be up and running before you know it. You could drive to LV if you couldn't get a flight...it's not that far is it? Still a long drive, but doable. I'll probably fly in too...just quicker that way.

Laura, travel safe and give your Dad my best wishes. I bet your Dad really enjoys your visits and spending time with Nelson. You drove on this trip right? How did that go?

Well I'm going through my camping gear to see what I want to bring on my trip. I have limited room in my Jeep, so I have to be conservative. I'll be "camping" in an empty house, so that should prove to be interesting. We are testing air mattresses right now, to see how they hold air.

I'm soaking Beans for the party on Saturday and will starting cooking them tonight or tomorrow morning. Made BBQ Sauce already and have the pork done and in the freezer. Saturday I'll make the cole slaw, then all should be done.

Hope everyone has a great night!!

Eva

Speaking of Vegas....do you all want to stay in a casino? Or would you consider alternatives?

There is a hotel 1 block from the strip, south of the MGM and east of the Tropicana....room rates seem reasonable and it's a suite type place with living room, kitchenette, and bedroom. Some of them have 2 bedroom. It's sort of what we did in Florida. It would be a good place to sit and talk after a busy day of gambling and walking. Just putting it out there.

Good Morning

Laura Hugs on Dad - Ya that's a hard one - safe trip home and yes you have the best dh !!!

BandRanger - Yep losing weight is all about calories in vs calories out - no matter what you do - Thats why keeping a food diary is a proven fact in helpping pple lose weight

Eva ya a block off the strip is cool w/me - but again I really would like my own room - I agree - I like the idea of being able to sit and chat like we did in FL and it's nice to have a fridge for our left overs ;0)

Ya ck it out -

My gf and I stayed at Trump for $89 a night 2 yrs ago - and that place was great - I just want clean ... But I don't think they are having deals like that anymore

TV ya it will come down - 6 yrs ago my projection cost $2400 - lcd/plasma where like $4000 and today they are $1400 - so it will come down

The place in Vegas is called the Desert Rose Resort and it comes up under Shell Vacations when you do a search on it.

You can have your own room and unit Janet. I'll try calling them and see what they say.

wow - i just watched the coolest youtube video.

it's of a US dr placing the band around someones stomache.

sooooo interesting. it even shows him stitching the lower part over the band and attaching it to the upper little part of the stomache so it doesn't move

now i see the fat around the stomache - very very interesting.

Eva, how expensive are the suites? I was looking at my own room too and really don't need a whole suite, but then again if it's not that expensive, I will go with the majority. I'll try and look up that resort later.

Hope Apples is okay - they had like 30 tornadoes in Minn. yesterday. We are having a severe watch right now here as well. I'm sure I'll be heading to the basement fairly shortly.

I checked out Desert Rose has 2 bedroom condos 800 square feet -- full kitchen, 2 baths, 1 king bedroom and the other bedroom with a queen bed and a pull out couch in living room - cost would be $419.84 total for both nights -- problem is none are available on Oct. 1 (unless the website is wrong -- we could call and ask) -- the following weekend is available for 2 bedroom condos (Oct. 8). Has anyone made plane reservations? We could even do 3 to a condo so everyone would have their own bed and it would still be only $140 for both nights which is as cheap as the crap hotels (like Tropicana) -- plus we have a kitchen. I'm game for changing dates.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Linda

Eva - thanks for doing some research on hotels. So looking forward to meeting everyone.

Laura - crossing fingers and saying prayers for good report for your Dad. You are such a loving daughter to take such good care of them. Your Mom is also lucky to have you to take her to doctor.

100 degree + heat index in K.C. Have to wait until after 9 pm to walk the dog. Yuk.

Have been spending less time on computer, so need to catch up on messages.

Linda, thanks for doing the research on the condo, glad I was wrong on thinking it would be very expensive. However, I know Janet is set into those dates as it's her furlough Friday.

I just went to costco, OMG what a zoo. Costcos are definitely more crowded here than in Denver. Must be all the large families stocking up, every time I've gone it's like that. I am used to going mid day, midweek and having the place to myself almost. I looked for the 24 Hour fitness memberships and they have them. Am going to discuss with DH this weekend about possibly doing that even with the drive. Might be good to make me get out. Though if I start up my P90X DVDS again at home I did really well with those in the past as well. But I'm thinking with being new in town and alone a lot getting out might be good.

WooHoo!!!!! I am eating real food. I only have to do shakes whenever I feel like it. I am on a Mediteranean(sp) diet. So, I went and bought organic veggies and Hormone and antibiotic free chicken.....oh, and fish.....YUM!

I did lose the two lbs. I think I have stalled because of too few calories.

Great, doesn't 24 hour have a Biggest Loser plan?

Laura, Have a safe trip home. Still praying for y'all.

Laura K......you have a safe trip too. I hope you get to meet up with some of the LBT buddies.

I am concerned about Apples. I hope the bad weather missed her

Julie are you okay?

Janet, see ya on the farm! lol You too Linda!

Okay, gang, I hope all of you have a great weekend! I am off to do some cooking.......Yippee!!!!

Yeah, those tornadoes were terrible! Hope you didn't have to go to the basement!

Thanks for checking out the condos. Sounds good to me... will wait to hear what Janet has to say about the dates.

Gym membership is probably a good idea. I know a couple of times after a move I got really depressed because I didn't know anyone. Would be good to do something that makes you get out of the house.

Glad you are getting to eat. I am happy to have some restriction back, even though it's not much. Just had two rye crisp crackers with tuna on top for lunch, and about 1/2 cup of cole slaw. Probably would have been satisfied with one cracker, and it took me at least 1/2 hour to get the cole slaw down!

Well, the sun is finally out today, so I think I'll go outside and absorb some of it!!

Severe weather hit. Extremely high winds, lots of lightning. Going to be very hot around here next week. Around 90 degrees accompanied of course by Illinois humidity. Gonna be much harder to teach next week. We'll survive.

Got a lot of exercise this week. Probably less this coming week with the heat.

Laura, tough waiting for news.

Newbies, high Protein low carb. Most days. We are realists. Good food days, bad food days. The band helps you have more good days than bad, if you let it. Its's still your decision, your choice.

Hi

Thanks for all the good travel wishes.

Lori, we will most likely be hitting SLC on Wed. That is a bummer, you will be leaving as we are getting there.

Linda, Looks like Des Moines on Mon. going to leave here 6 or 7 a.m. Things were up in the air as the moving co kept changing the dates. Called yesterday and said they couldn't pic up today it would be monday, called today and said it would be tomorrow. They have to pay her $200 because they can't meet there obligation. They better be here at 8 like they said, my nieces grad party is tomorrow and I've been cooking up a storm and need to be there early. I will call you when we are getting close, going to get reservation made tomorrow so I can tell you were we will be. It's a 10 hr drive, figuring more for stops. That will give you and estimate on arrival.

Hope to see you monday.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
