Evening All ~ just checking in...yep Janet the exercise thing is doing something (even if it's all in my mind). Sometimes, I think I might be over doing it a bit e.g. like today; I got very winded. Need to remember it's been a while since I was on a regular exercise routine and need to work my way back up to what I use to do. Don't want to burn myself out before I get a real schedule down.

Ms. Bubba I'm sorry you are having such a terrible time; can't offer anything in terms of advice - still such a novice here in bandland; however, I don't believe in sitting through pain, so just like everyone else says: Go to a doctor, NOW; emergency room docs do triage, but if they let you go home, then following up with your own doc as soon as possible is best.

I get heartburn sometimes, not a lot. It happens most when I eat too fast, don't chew well. It passes after a while, but it is very uncomfortable. I have more problems getting stuck than anything else. Certain foods really give me a hard time e.g. bananas. I love them, but they don't seem to work well with my band. I'm learning, hard-headed, but I'm learning.

Well that's it for now. I have two papers due this week so I need to go do some research now. Talk with you guys later.

This is so weird. I got on tonight to see if this had happened to anyone else and it seems like Julie. I got a .6 cc fill last Wednesday for a total of 4.4. Water went down fine but I just didn't feel right. I was burping a lot and experiencing slight heart burn. I called my Dr.'s office yesterday to tell them it didn't feel right, burping, etc. (by the way they are 2 hours from me). They told me it sounded like I was too tight and needed some saline removed and wanted me to come up then. I explained I couldn't get off work that quick so they made my appointment for today. However, last night around 7:15 p.m. I started pb-ing bad and finally at 10:30 p.m. I called the doctor and he said not to worry to either come up today or come to the emergency room. My husband and I decided that I couldn't wait till today so we said emergency room. Dr. said he would call and have them ready. My husband drove 80 mph and we got there at 12:15 a.m. (I am pb, throwing up all the way there, mind you I have only been eating soft foods because I was scared to eat anything else and then yesterday evening, I couldn't even eat). Of course, no one was waiting and i had to wait over an hour and a half before finally my dr came in because the er doctor had never performed a removal of saline nor a fill and didn't want to do it and personally I didn't want him doing it either. My dr finally came in and within 1 minute of him removing saline I could tell a difference, actually while he was removing it. He took out 2 cc. I was never so scared in my life. Apparently, something had gotten stuck and I was too tight. Now today I have a bad head ache, my left shoulder is sore as well as middle of my back. I attributed it to all the throwing up. But anyway, Julie I would definitely call your doctor. I talked to mine again today and they didn't seem like it was any big deal. It was definitely a big deal to me and my husband who was also terrifed. Good Luck!

Beachlover - OMW that was an ordeal... Glad it's over - It can take a good 24 hours if not longer for a fill to settle in - this is why some doc's are so conservative with their fills.

I'm lucky my Doc is about 20 miles away - and he gives all his patients his cell #... Most ER docs dont know anything about our bands...

Glad you are doing better...

I totally agree with you about not pushing the exercise so much that it becomes a chore cuz then you will quit - My Uncle and I discussed that about 6 months ago - I was pushing myself just a little to hard - and I realized that if I kept that up I would burn out and quit - I still challenge myself and do push myself some days - but others I just do the norm and it's working..

I like bananas too - I have to take tiny bites and eat super slow - and I will also cut them up and put them in some lite vanilla yogurt - that helps them not get stuck...

----------------------------------------------

Well, Gang quite tonite - I have been to the gym 1 hr weights legs - then came home and paid bills and talked to my GF who had bypass - see has hit a plateua - she is 4 lbs shy of her 100 lbs and she just can't seem to get there...

-------------------------------------------------------

Well, It's almost 7:30 need to figure out what I'm going to eat - not really hungry (shocking I think it's the cold) so I am going to talk to you all later...

Hugs Janet

Thank you Janet I am glad that its pretty normal to have the hearburn. I was just alittle concerned about the hernia coming back. I will talk to my doctor next week about what medication if any he wants me to take. I will try chewing gum to see it it helps. I am back on track on working out an making good food choices. I have to be realistic and I think it will take me a year to take off all my weight.

Also you have a lower BMI too - so you aren't going to lose it as fast as those of us who had higher ones...

It's all about good food choices & exercise - It's not a race - remember the turtle won the race...

Hugs......

Hi everyone, Julie, I hope you are feeling better and if you aren't I hope you've called the doctor again. Ellen, thank you for your kind words. Yes, I've lost the 50 lbs. since I began the preop liquid diet on Jan. 13. I have been very strict with myself and was also cleared to start exercising just one week after surgery. I really believe the exercise is the biggest key as well as eating by the band rules, ie. Protein and veggies. I've had very few carbs (other than fruit) since my surgery. I hope everyone has a better day tomorrow. Charlene, hope your DIL and new grandson are doing well. Linda

hi I need a friend after the hat room,,,, I need answers. I stated out at 170 I am 5'1 and my BMI was a 33 i think. I am 133 and I went 8 months with out a fill and the AIG said that is to long I Prob needed a fill way before now. Well they said I have stretched my pouch out a little and they have seen where people have reversed it by a liquid diet ,,, so that is what i am going to do. Questions is have you ever heard of anyone oming back from the stretched zone and how they do it. AIG also said the stomach is a memory muscle and if ipoch gets stretch it remembers how in the future,, how can I get back to the good pouch and can I keep it there. Oh and I have had my band for 1 year and 8 months,, i need to learn some new tricks when I have screwed up. PLease Help

Hi Brandy

It's called the 5 day pouch test - here's the link Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

How in the heck do you think you have screwed up - - you have lost 40 something - you have what maybe 10 - 20 lbs to lose to get to your goal - how in the heck is that screwing up -

I haven't had a fill in over a year - once you get to your sweet spot my doc says I may never need a fill again...

Eat healthy - exercise - you will get to your goal..

Hi All...Hope everyone is doing fine. I am back from my "extended" Vegas trip. Felt like I had two vacations. Spent 4 nights with my 50th bday party group at the Monte Carlo and the other 4 nights at the Riviera with my group of friends I go out to Vegas with each year. Was the greatest time with both groups. Saw Tom Jones. He moves pretty good for an old guy and can really belt it out.

I have caught up on this thread and my others but no time to respond right now. GREAT photos, Janet. Happy to hear you had a good time. You look wonderful and congrats on the zipping fete. Your GS in beautiful.

Hope you get better soon Janet. Being sick is no fun. When I got sick last time I doubled up on the Vitamin C. I have been thinking about going to join a gym. I have a bike and treadmill at the house but maybe getting my butt out of the house and working out with a group will motivate me more. I am currently exercising about 45 min cardio 5x a week at home any advice. Have a great Friday everyone.

Good Morning Gang

GS was on my computer doing homework last night - something about he can do it better on mine instead of his?? Doesn't make sense to me - but who cares as long as he is doing his homework - plus I was super tired when I got home yesterday - took a little catnap when I got home..

Apples - Welcome home - glad you had a good time - did you win any $$$ :0)... Did you go to the outlets?? Thanks I think GS is handsome but again he's my heart :0)... Oh Yea - I love hearing about all your cooking - so don't stop.. It's about eating healthy not depriving ourselves...

Rose - I think it's breaking up - the only thing is along as I take a clariden it drys me up - but then when I don't take it I am all snotty again - Upper respiratory (sp) cough...

Exercise - well you are doing good - just make sure you do interval kind of workouts - intensity then slow then intense then slow and every few weeks kick it up - as it gets easier (and it does) just bump it up some - I use to do like a mile - then 2 - then 3 - Now I do 3.5 to 4 miles in my hour. I don't exercise for more than an hour at a time - that's enough for me - I am the exercise cop but it's not something I want to spend hours doing... Don't love it that much - I do love how much stronger I am and I do contribute that to weight training - the first 8 months all I did was treadmill then March 08 started weights I can see and feel the diff in my body with the weight training - Muscle !!! If I didn't have such batwings - I would have Kelly Ripa arms !!! Plus the more muscles you have the more calories you burn by just being...

TGIF !!!! I'm going to see Trace Atkins tonite at Agua Calientie Casino tonite !!!! I saw him last year (5/08) in Laughlin and let me tell you that he is God's example of how men should be- Love that man - big tall sexy and can move..

Can't say I am a big country girl - But LOVE Trace !!!!

Well - it's a short week next week and I'm going to see DS and family for Easter (won't be around next weekend)- Haven't seen them since Christmas - and missed my GD 5th bday so I told her we would Celebrate when I came for Easter and gotta take 14 yr GD to find the right makeup that doesn't aggervate her pimples -

CBL gang !!!

Not much time to check in...spring work has hit us (not in the field yet..just readying equipment, etc.). Have a table full of guys for dinner today and making the cakes for MIL 89th bday tomorrow. We have a crowd coming and will be a big day.

Happy to hear you are feeling better, Janet. DH has the same kind of thing going on. Nurse was here this morning to set him up with CPAP machine. I felt for him. All snotty and trying so hard to try the machine out. Took three hours but think he has a handle on it now. He had 2 sleep studies and results were that he has same rare sleep disorder as DS. Nurse scared him into wearing every night. We'll see. DS takes his with him when he travels and hope that DH does the same.

Todays menu: White chicken chilli, homemade (up at 5am to get it going) whole wheat bread made with honey and cottage cheese....so nice and moist, and pumpkin cake with cr. cheese frosting.

Chili recipe: (I'm cutting it down to a 4th of what I made)

4 cups Water...bring to a boil

2 cups diced chicken

2 tbls low salt chicken bullion

1 can butter bean

1 can black Beans

1 can great northern beans

1 TBLS chili powder (more is wanted)

2 cups Fat Free sour cream

Simmer for 30 minutes...stir often

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm off to head to town for farm parts, to the bank, to the PO to mail Easter box to DS and GF and then to visit my 88 yr old best friend.

Hi, Apples,

I LOVE white chicken chili and hope to try this recipe soon.

We're putting together a cook book here in our RV park to benefit our Emergency Response Team (which has saved TWO lives that I know of this season because it takes too long for the paramedics to get here). I wondered if it would be okay with you if I submitted this recipe. I'm looking for healthy recipes to submit to the gal who is doing it. I would be happy to credit you with it if you would like. I wanted to ask you one question.... the sour cream goes in before you simmer? Thanks

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
