can't get my groove ( restriction) back

Recommended Posts

I had a complete unfill on April 1. I had 5.5cc in a 10 cc band then. I was just way too tight...lots of gurgling, pain, unable to swallow my own spit at times....so they unfilled me, did an upper GI, everything was fine. SO we started with a small 2cc fill, and now I am up to 4.5cc and I feel like I am almost there but not quite. I can eat bread....pasta...whatever. I KNOW I can eat alot more, but I try hard not to, because I am scared to over do it. My question is this, is it taking MORE saline to get me back to some sort of restriction than it would have before BECAUSE I have already had atleast 5.5 cc in my band? Kind of like I have to have atleast 5.5 cc now or else? Does that make any sence to anyone else?? I am calling the office tomorrow, its been almost 2 weeks since my last .5 cc fill and I want more damnit!!

I had an unfill too, although slight, I can't get back to where I was. It is hard!! I too, am trying so hard not to eat as much as I know that I can. Don't feel alone, were in the same boat!

My doctor's office said that each person is different. Some people it might take less to get the restriction back and other people it might take more.

I just had 1.5 cc taken out (I had 9) of my 14 cc band. They said it might be difficult to get the restriction that I had back.

Wendy, this is very common. I had .5 removed for plastic surgery and .3 didn't do it when I went in 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't be surprised if you even needed more than 5.5. You have to wait and see. I would go back to 5.5 and see if you get any symptoms again. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
