Funny you should bring that up I was a heavy diet coke drinker and thought I would go mad without it but until I read your post I hadn't thought about it.....weird huh? You will do great!! Good Luck

OMG!! I was having the exact same thought! I suffered caffeine withdrawals last summer, accidentally. It was pure hell. When I realized what I had unintentionally done to myself, I sucked down the strongest diet coke I could find. I had planned to switch to tea after being banded may 9th. Funny thing is, I haven't had any caffeine in almost two weeks and I hadn't thought a thing about it! Definitely weird!

I was banded on May 12 and now that my diarrhea is gone I am feeling great. No pain at all. I lost 14 pounds on 2 week preop liquid diet and 8 pounds since surgery for a total of 22 pounds. I am so happy! I was on Clear Liquids for 5 days and full liquids until Monday. I went back to work on May 20 and was just a little tired. I am looking forward to Monday when I can start on pureed food. I think I am going to try scrambled eggs first.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
