RnMom,

Got my first fill today and I feel no different, everything is going to just as it did before (not sure what it suppose to feel like) but he said if by Monday I don't feel an restriction when eating bread, chicken or Pasta to call him and he will have me come back in to put more in the port.

Well, about the number for the Realize - Susie still doesn't have an answer and says the 2nd rep has resigned due to health issues. I am not real sure what is going on but she has a list of people who are waiting on this number. She has no clue what to do or when we can expect the number.

Good luck on the 10th with your first fill - let me know how it goes.

Hey Jill, just an FYI... my fills usually took me a week to feel them. I was sure I didn't have enough Fluid and then all of a sudden I was sliming and getting stuck with the best of them. :-) So definitely give it some time and take care while eating over the next several days, you may never know when it kicks in :-)

Hey guys, I think I might know the rep you are talking about...I have a friend who just started working for J&J. I will call her next week for you guys and see if she knows anything about the number for you. I know she was a big pusher for the J&J band, mainly bc of the extra help from the website. I can't make any promises, but I will do my best!

Do you feel any restriction yet? Celebrated my 40th tonight and went to Bravos. No bread and oil, had the tilapia, ate much less than before, and NO dessert, but I am really thinking the fill will help! How is it going since your fill?

RnMom,

Happy 40th - welcome to the club!!!! No I feel NO restriction at all!! I called and Dr Myers is going to see me tomorrow and do it again. I went to a cook-out Saturday and could have eaten anything and everything if I hadn't stopped myself. I have eaten normal bites (not thinking because of no restriction) and they go through like nothing is there - talk abut disappointed. I hope you have better success on Thursday. Let me know!!

I went back and was refilled today. Dr. M. thinks he may have missed my port. I think I am feeling restriction but time will tell.

WONDERFUL NEWS . . . .I got the number for the Realize website from Suzie today when I went in - it is Z7K9 W6D6 V2C4. I have not tried it yet but I plan to later tonight!!

Just wonderin-

Had my first fill Thurs am. I had not tried Pasta or bread until tonight. I just wanted to test this band at home and I was able to eat a small plate of spaghetti (probably 1-1 1/2 c) and a pc of french twist pillsbury bread. I felt full (which is good) and nothing got stuck (also good),but wondered if this was normal ?? Should this thing stop me from eating pasta and bread all together? Silly questions I know but....

RnMom,

I still don't feel much restriction at all. The only thing I can say I have had a problem eating is chicken. Everything else has been easy to eat. I am starting to get a little worried. I do get full faster but no problem eating. I guess we just to have to give it time. As Heather and others have said the it could talk a few days to feel the restriction. I'm sure we will be just fine. Are you going to the support meeting on Tuesday?

Wish I could go Tues but I work until 7:30p. Couldn't make it to Polaris Sat either b/c I had to work. Waiting for my bill to come so I picked up a few extra days! I was asking Dr during my fill about the Realize band compared to the AP band and he said results are the same, but theRealize band is a little more flexible so things probably won't get stuck as easily.Tonight I actually ate 3 oz of filet, spinach, and 1/3 baked potato. All of a sudden I felt this lump in my throat after a bite of potato,so that was the end of supper. My husband said I was eating to fast. Nothing came back up. Sunday I felt like I could have eaten everything in site! So I understand your worries!!! It is definitely a tool and not magical cure. You sound like you have the right attitude and understanding to make it work and by the looks of your ticker you are making progress! Way to go.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
