Who's getting banded in June

Recommended Posts

Hi to all you Junies!!

I read the post about the pre-op diet. I am a little confused too, but my Dr. said that I should follow the Atkins diet for 10-7 days before the surgery. I really hate the Atkins diet, but I'm pretty sure I will be faithful. I am self pay and it took a long time to save up and hours and hours of extra work. My Dr. had a patient he calls "The French Fry Lady." I guess during the pre-op diet she ate french fries everyday because she didn't really think it mattered.....Well, when the Dr. got inside to do the procedure her liver had not shrunk at all and he was unable to complete the banding and had to stop and stitch her back up. I think I would just die if that happened to me. So good luck to all of us. I can't wait to post an "after" picture someday!!

I think it sounds like it is a good thing to follow, so I will begin 2 weeks prior to the 17th of June and try to follow as closely as possible. Kerry:thumbup:

I don't want to be the "French Fry Lady" either. That would be devestating!

Hi Christy,

I noticed that on pages that list the names of the different threads, there is a button near the top on the left that says "new thread." Hope that helps. I've never actually done it.

Also, to all the Junies, I noticed someone said something about the 'Jazzy Junies' list. Where is that? It's so nice to know that there are so many people out there that understand exactly what I am going through because no one in my immediate life does understand.

I can't wait for June 11th!!!!

My doc's office called with a June 2nd date! I missed the call on Friday but you bet I'll be calling first thing on Monday with a HELL YES!

It's all moving so fast! I mean, I just had my consult this week. I kinda want to let out a girl scream, but I AM a girl, so YAAAAAAAAAH!

...okay, I feel better.

Well, I had posted earlier that I was going to have to go alone out of state for my 6/6 surgery - got some good news. My mom, bless her heart, called to tell me that she made flight reservations for the same trip and was going with me, that I was not going to go alone for surgery!!

Boy was I relieved. Don't mean to sound like a baby but I really wasn't looking forward to going through this alone and out of state at that, though I was prepared to do it anyway (the doctors didn't recommend coming alone).

Just wanted to share my good news with you guys! You've been so supportive. I start my pre-op diet 5/30 and I'm getting excited! Good luck to all you June Bandsters!!!

Hello Everyone...I am being banded on June 27th in Olympia, Wa. I work in a school and wanted to wait until our summer break. Last day of school - June 25th - one day to wait and then off I go. Like everyone I am on a roller coaster ride of elation and fear. I am trying hard not to get too much into the "last meal" syndrome until I start my pre-op liquid diet. I will look forward to watching everyones progress and soon be experiencing the same thing instead of just reading about it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
