Hey everyone, Hope you're all doing well. Seems we've become a quiet group huh? A year ago we were all such gabbers we'd be on our 8 page by now but lately we're lucky we go beyond 2 pages before the next month's thread is created. I totally understand though because I've been so busy myself. I haven't been on here much since my last post on the 14th mainly because on my way to work on the 15th I got into a bad car accident. Ambulance ride for me because I hurt my neck, shoulders and back. I was rear-ended by a jeep wrangler that was going too fast and the driver said he looked away for one second and BOOM. Well, I was stopped behind a caravan that stopped for a bus in front of us. When I looked in my rearview mirror I could tell this guy was going way too fast and wasn't stopping so I tried to pull over onto the right breakdown/dirt but, I wasn't fast enough and he clobbered me and pushed me into the woman in front of me. She only got damage to her caravan on the passengers side breaklight and a scratch on her bumper but, I have damage to my front and back bumpers, front and back drivers side quarter panels and my back door was pushed in and wouldn't open. They took me out by ambulance on a board and my husband got there just as they put me in it. He said the cops had to have him back my CR-V into this guys Jeep because he had hooks on his front bumper and they were under and hooked on my back bumper. UGH. Anyway, I'm ok...just sore. Have to wear a collar when I'm shopping or in the car but, I can take it off at home. I've missed Thurs and Friday and now Today from work. Even more sore today actually. Chiro has been helping...gotta see him again on Wednesday. So anywho that's the excitement from my end of the world. Still waiting to hear if my car is fixable...I'm more concerned about the all wheel drive since I was kinda at an angle when the guy hit me. We'll see how it goes.

Hugs to ya

Hi all, here is my first post! As a Jersey Girl, I thought I check out the local board. And, yes, it is a little quiet here. I am waiting for insurance pre-cert right now. All testing done and 6 month supervised program too (although my lack of success with that was almost predictable). Looking forward to a summer banding. I hope so anyway!

Welcome Trish, I wish you well with your "progress in the process" :scared2:

Hello everybody... I have not been getting my email notifications, so I finally decided to pop in just to see if there were any new posts, and oh my goodess... Sherry!

So sorry to hear about your accident! Years ago,my DH was rear ended by a dumptruck (he was in a van with our 9 mo.old son). He said he saw the truck in his mirror, going too fast to stop in time. They were fine. The truck hit the van, but not nearly as bad as your accident sounds. I hope you can get the car repaired and most of all that you are OK.

TTYL everybody :(

Sherry, yikes! I bet you are sore after all of that. With 24 trucks on the road, I'm so thankful each day the guys get back in and get the trucks off the road. It's a war zone out there for sure.

I have to go to work today, although, it's raining. My new girl, her baby has pinkeye and can't go to the sitter. I'm so sorry she's sick, but I'm not happy about having to go to work either. It's raining right now, so I'll probably close the office and put the phones on the answering service, oh the joys of being the boss, LOL.

Welcome Trish, good luck on your journey.

Diane, when you going to the beach? I think we're going down for a couple of days this weekend, come back on Sunday.

Later gals.

Hi, had a great time with the Violets in Texas.

Had my surgery early yesterday, Surgeon said he removed 12 pounds of flesh and fatty tissue.

Recovery has been painful, but I am going to make it!!!

I will try to check in tommorow. I am going to have to go recline, sitting up the straight hurts!

Thanks again for being there for me!!

Kat

Kat, I had to laugh at your remark sitting up straight hurts, wait until you try to stand up straight...OUCH! It takes a while for that to happen, but it's so worth the pain. I hated the drain tubes, that was the worst part for me.

Hugs to all!

Happy Friday!

so I went to my first ever support group meeting last night because I thought it would be good to get to talk to fellow banders. well there was only 5 people there and I was the only banded person everyone else has gastric bypass and they were all out over 2 years. They did have a nutritionist there which was good and everyone was shocked at my results for being just over 6 months out but I was overall not really happy with the meeting. I think im going to try and go to the one help at the doctors office next week...maybe there will be more people there since this one was held at a hotel. we were talking about what we eat and I stated that I dont have problems eating anything and there isnt anything that I cant eat - rice, Pasta, bread and all that yummy stuff - the nutritionist asked how much I have lost and when I told her 61 pounds without a fill her face showed shock! She was like "if you had told me 20 pounds then I would have had a talk with you about what your eating but you found what works for you and your doing great" they were all also surprise that I workout but I dont think I would be were I am right now without working out so im sticking to it. well that was my experience and it wasnt bad but not really what I was looking for.

have a great day all!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
