What to do until fill????

Recommended Posts

Like most, the few days to a week after my surgery on 4/9/08 I could only drink half of a slim fast shake, now my stomach limit feels limitless- Im still drinking slim fasts and imprivising and mixing yogurt in, and eating some mashed potatoes every once in a while but still hungry- my fill isnt until May 20th and Im not sure what to do- and the thought of mushy overcooked vegetables and blended meats gives me dry heaves. Ugh. I have lost 26 pounds and am continuing to lose and REALLY do ont want to gain yet still have almost 4 weeks until my fist fill and freaking. Any tips??

T:eek:hx!

Hi,

I could have written your post!! I had my band placed on April 8th, now that the swelling is down, I could eat anything!!!! I am trying real hard to stay on track, but that 6 week post op before a fill is brutal. Has anyone had a fill before the 6 weeks? My DR. will not consider it.

J.

I feel the same way. I had my surgery in 4/10 and I dont get a fill until 5/22. I feel like I could eat a horse and another half a horse just in case. My stupid self decided I could eat Taco Bell last night, oh yeah I over indulged. Ok so I binged. I also go sick. Can you take me to vomit town?? So today I sit with puffy eyes and broken blood vessels in my skin under my eyes from my oh so big mistake. I feel like absolute crap for what I did. My boyfriend thinks he oh so funny and keeps bringing it up. I told him I already feel like crap about it, no need to keep bringing it up, thanks! I know he means well, but damn Im already hard enough on myself. May 22nd can come fast enough. I want to feel the resrtiction I did when I first had the surgery. I so wish the head hunger would go away too. Damn the addiction.

I know just how you feel. I was banded on the 16th and I'm still on full liquids (3 more days till mushies!). I've read other posts that suggested putting chili thru a blender. I hope it's good because that's what I'm planning for lunch on Wednesday.

I'm soooooooooooo hungry!:smile2:

Or that episode of seinfeld when Elaine had to fast for 3 days and started to hallucinate...hee...Oh my....

I would say write down what you are eating everyday try maintaining 1000-1200 calories a day and try to be active as much as you can to burn calories, it will be hard but it part of the job:thumbup:

Hi - I was banded on 4-4-08 and my first fill is on 5-6-08 (doesn't sound too bad I guess). I'm not so much hungry as I am just sick of mushies! I cannot have any meat except baked fish and tuna and I do NOT do Tuna! I would kill for a grilled chicken salad. Anyone have trouble with lettuce?

I thought I was the only one! My stomach is growling as I sit here and type. And if I see ONE more Red Lobster commercial I think I might become violent! I couldn't even watch tv this weekend (which..ha..I guess is a good thing.) My doc said no exercise for a month... so I'm kinda stuck when it comes to finding things to keep my mind off the hunger. Guess, I'll try reading a book tonight. Hang in there everyone!

I had my surgery on 04/16/08 and don't get my first fill until 05/28/08. I feel like I haven't even had anything done to my stomach, other than a constant growling! I've heard some say that after their sugery they couldn't but a spoonful at a time. Not me, I could eat a 7 course meal if they'd let me! I just don't know how I'm gonna make it until the end of May!

Banded 3 weeks ago today and sadly, have adjusted to life without chewing. I do get hungry sometimes, but its nothing like pre-op hunger. I am on 5 weeks of full liquids, and I get to transition to processed solids 3 days before my first fill. I have been tempted to cheat because I feel fine and I know I could eat quite a bit now. But, my surgeon and the nurse explained WHY I have to stay on liquids and the fear is in me. He said the only thing holding everything in place until the band "settles" is his little stomach stitch. If I fill the pouch or cause myself to throw up, it could break the stitch and cause a slip. That, I really don't want. Be careful and hang in there people, it's not forever!!

OMG I'm hungry too!! I have complained of this since a few days after surgery. My doctor won't give fills until the 6 week appt either. I just got back from seeing the dietician, and she is sympathetic, but cannot allow me to advance to solids for fear of stretching the 'pouch' above the band. She is allowing me to increase my calories from 600-800 to 1000-1200. Thank goodness. Maybe that will help me. I too am becoming irritable.

This my dear friends....must be BANDSTER HELL!!!

OMG! My surgery date was 4-8-08 and I am going through the SAME things. I feel like I completely skipped mushies. I ate at Chilis last night for God's sake what is wrong with me!!! I had half of a piece of tilapia and 2 bites of Beans and chips and salsa and yes...3 or 4 bites of the molten chocolate cake!! PLEASE crucify me I need it!! I am just SO hungry. I feel NO restriction most of the time. I hate this. I go for my first fill on the 28th of May, what will I do till then??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
