GAINED WEIGHT!!! SO frustrated

Recommended Posts

:sad:Hello everyone! I got on the scale this morning because I was feeling kind of bloated in the past few days. I have gained 4 pds! I know that "my monthly Friend" will be starting soon. Does this effect my weight loss? I think I usually do gain during that time however, I don't think that its going to start until later next week. So, I don't know if that IS it or not? I have never felt this bloated before!

Should I be worried or is this normal? I have been able to eat more ( I am almost 4 weeks post op) and I haven't had a problem at all with any food...IS this normal? Should I feel some sort of restriction? OH boy am I kind of depressed about this weight gain!

Can you guys help!

Thank you

I had the same problem 2 weeks post-op. I seemed to gain about 5kg. Reading other posts I knew this would most likely happen so I wasn't too concerned. Then I woke up one morning and it was all gone. I wouldn't panic.

My doctor told me that you gain 1 to 5kg before/during your periods then it disappears so i would not worry at all :)

It takes 3,500 excess calories to gain 1 pound of body fat - so unless you have taken in about 14,000 excess calories :-) it is most likely Water weight rather than body fat.

Water weight comes and goes ... it will go again.

I have not had my first fill yet (6th May is my first one) - so have no restriction either. Have you been scheduled for your first fill so you can start feeling some restriction?

Please don't worry - this is a journey to lose body fat. Sometimes I think the scales are our evil enemy.

I have the same situation, bloated and have steadily gained weight all week! I'm not going to let this get the best of me though, I think I had this very unrealistic expectation, surgery and poof, I'm skinny!

Hang in there, I bet next week after your "friend" is gone, the weight loss will be substantial!

I'm craving pickles as though I'm pregnant, anyone experiencing this? My banding was on 4/8/08.

Thanks ya'll!

I too have been craving pickles. I have been drinking the juice out of the jar. I asked my doctor about it. he said it was better then craving ice cream. but be careful about the sodium.:(

I'm 5 days post op and got my period this morning. Up 2lbs. Not happy.

I'm *hoping* it's AF weight. I'm not eating much food, and I'm not that swollen, other than just around the port.

I know everybody has said that anything you've lost before your first fill is 'gravy', but I'm going to be VERY disappointed if I start gaining back everything I've worked to lose so far.

Just know you're not the only one!

And, OMG. I LOVE pickles. Every freaking time I open the fridge they're there staring at me. Mocking me and my post op liquid diet. I'm trying to use my forces for good and not evil and ignore them. We'll see... I used to get in trouble when I was little for drinking all the juice out of the jar and letting the pickles dry out. Heh. Forgot about that.

Oh, and I am SO not pregnant.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
