TMI - Embarassing questions

Recommended Posts

I couldn't burp and the air got trapped inside, it was excrutiatingly painfull... be very glad you can and do burp, in fact I encourage it as often as possible. The other alternative is an NG tube and two days in the hospital. That's just my experience. Thankfully, there is medicine that will help you burp, so I'm hoping all is going to be fine now. I however, received my first fill last Thursday and was very worried that the problem would come back. No problems so far, but there is a pressure there that doesn't seem to go away. It's not painful (as of now) but it still worries me.

BURP AWAY and smile sheepishly if anyone says anything.:smile2:

Scar tissue is a good answer. I can't see my port, so.... I just have a scar.

Yep looks like scar tissue will be the answer

My tummy tells me I'm full by sending hiccups my way. It's kinda funny like a built in alarm system

I wish my body had an alarm system....or if it does I'm not tuned into it. DH made this WONDERFUL pasta/chicken dish (the devil) that he knows I love last night for dinner. My plan was to pick the chicken from the Pasta and maybe eat a taste of the pasta. You know what happened!! I ate as much as I usually would and felt like I had let myself down afterwards. Then I fussed at him for tempting me! Had to apoligize for that one later, it's my weakness.

I was hoping the burps would go away..lol. I was giving a lecture to my staff today and a burp came out of no where ( yeah right), more like uncontrollable burp. one of girls kind of giggled at me, oh well, it was kind of funny. there is just no warning.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
