Okay Turler - I'm in your world girl! I think I'm too tight. I had a fill a week and a half ago. Once I moved to solids I thought - okay - I just need to "relearn" how to chew. Nope! Mushies are coming back on me. It seems every time I eat (well most of the time) - I'm in the bathroom within 15 minutes - PBing. I haven't actually thrown up - but yuck! PB is nasty!

I'm hoping they'll let me get a small unfill this week. I'm e-mailing the OTC today to see if I can come in. If I eat anything solid it gets stuck - no matter what. It eventually goes down (either on its own or after I have a PB episode). I'm miserable! I prayed for restriction - boy did I get it...LOL

L2L: Oh No!!! I don't wish it on anyone! Too tight does not mean more weight loss! I've learned that for sure. You will find you'll just eat around it...shakes, mushies, etc. I did lose 2 pounds while on vacation, but trust me...it wasn't because I tried! I had at least 2 Starbucks Fraps a day, plenty of alcohol and lots of yummy food!! The only thing I can say for myself is that we walked and hiked everyday!!!! My clothes are looser despite my attempt to sabotage my weight loss! It's okay though...I went into it with no plans of losing ANY weight so the way I see it, I WON!! LOL

Okay, sorry...back to you. I hope you can get in today. I think just the slightest unfill would do wonders for me, so I'm sure you'd feel the same too. It's been a while since your fill, so I'd venture to say that any swelling should be gone by now. How much do you have in your band?

I have 6.5 in a 10 cc band. I'm thinking taking out .5 would put me where I need to be. Leslie (our nurse at the fill center) called me and can get me in today at 2:00. I'll be so thankful to be able to eat again. I'd rather be too loose than too tight. At least the looseness isn't painful! I've either been in pain or just plain grossed out the last couple of weeks. I haven't lost anything in almost 6 weeks....well 2 pounds...but like you the inches are coming off. Can the doctor not get you in for an unfill?

My doctor will not unfill me! I am at a loss. I've tried to adjust to this, and there are days that I do okay, and other times things are disastrous. I just don't know what to make of it. I only want like .25 cc out. Well, I guess I'm back to "behaviour modification". Whatever. I am throwing up several times a week now. He is aware of this and tells me I'm eating to fast or not chewing well enough. If this keeps up, I have half a mind to unfill myself!

By the way...I'm confused. What is the difference between vomiting and PBing???

PB (Productive Burp) to me is the slime coming up in the back of my throat from my stomach when I burp. Vomiting involves food. I've had a little food come up - but everything is chewed so well - it's nasty looking - just different colors. I haven't heaved any or choked while I pb'd. I do it when I burp actually - I've had to run to the bathroom on several occassions. I guess I needed to just carry a cup around with me. Sorry if I got too graphic...

It sounds like your doc is being unreasonable to me. I've adjusted my behavior the past couple of weeks - and like you didn't get results. I couldn't imagine having to go through this hell as long as you have.

Thanks Leslie,

Yeah. I have been actually vomiting. It's as you describe...nicely pureed and colorful. I just can't figure out what's causing it. Some days are just fine, and others aren't. I am definitely frustrated and not sure how to address this with him again. I think he is being unreasonable too. Of course, I have no idea how his nurse is delivering the message to him either. She is a not-so-friendly type that tends to roll her eyes and make you feel bad for calling. Even when you're in person she has a way of making you feel like you are bothering her. Nice, huh? Gives us nurses a bad rep!

Good luck at your appointment. I hope you get some relief!

Since this thread is dorment I thought I'd liven it up again. We just passed our five month anniversary. How's everyone doing?

I'm down 45 pounds (from 259 to 214) and believe I'm finally at my sweet spot. I've gone from a 22/24W to 14/16 misses and dropped a shoe size (surprised me).

I was exercising like crazy for months and have lost my drive. I still get to the gym and need to buckle down more. I was on a plateau for over a month (closer to two) and finally broke through it this month. The weight is starting to come off again.

How about ya'll?

Hey Hey. How is everyone? I'm just checking in. I am down 60 pounds as of today. I got my first fill about 3 weeks ago now. It was tight. But the past week it seems to have gotten tighter. I have PBed a few times in the last few days. But I did notice that I was eating to fast a few times

My depression has gotten better. I dont have any episodes of my crying break downs anymore. All in all I think I am doing pretty well right now.

Hi Everyone. Been gone a while. Some "too much work" weeks, coupled with my husband's business woes wearing on me, a small medical issue, and we tore out our bathroom to fix up before the world decided to throw us a couple of curves.

Anyway, dealing with it all, but just barely. I started eating as my band was far more open a month after last fill, and it was okay for a while but started getting out of hand (no problem eating bags of sour cream and onion potato chips and crackers), so I called my surgeon and he had a last minute opening and he really tightened me up. I'm not only feeling restricted, I'm barely getting down liquids. But he said it would begin to loosen a little in a few days, and maybe going back to liquids for a few days will be good for me. Cleansing.

My scale broke. I bought a new one that's supposed to be very good, but there is a three pound difference between my old and new scale. Lighter. Doctor's scale is actually 2 pounds more than this new one. What do you do? I can't constantly add 3 pounds and who says the old one was right? It was slightly off from the doctor's as well. I guess every home scale can be slightly different and this one doesn't have a thingee to change it. I think I should treat the doctor's as official and the rest as just a way to track, rather than the "gospel".

Anyway, off to the medical supply store. Seems I have venous insufficiency (no, doesn't mean I don't get loved enough) and have to protect my legs more. Oy yey!

Hi. I'm not sure if I pressed the correct reply button. Please forgive me if this is not the correct way to ask questions!

I had surgery on April 11, 2008 in TJ Mexico. I just found this great website. Can I join your group? If yes, I'm not sure how to do it. It's very reassuring and encouraging to read through your postings over the past 5 months. Congratulations to everyone!!! I've had a few issues, but keep plugging along. It would help a lot to chat with people who are in my time frame. Thanks and I look forward to chatting with all of you!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
