Hi Everyone! I get banded on Friday May 2nd. Even though I am nervouse I can't wait. I have been overweight all my life and am ready for a new challenge...

Currently it is the liquid diet I had to start on Friday. 14 days of liquids....arghhhhh

Oh well I am glad you are all here:)

I don't know if this is because my band is new, but I feel a tightness in my chest area when I first sit up or while i am drinking something. It kind of feels like gas building up just before you burp (gross right!) but then it just goes away.

Today is five days post op. I tried to talk to the doctor to see if I can have applesauce and no is the answer. They are very serious about liquids for two weeks!!

PS...good to see all of the NTX 30 somethings!!:rolleyes2:

Only day two of pre-op liquids and I already miss food terribly. Pretty pathetic isn't it. Slim fast tastes gross. At least I'm not really hungry, just miss eating. I'm such a mess.

wisemom/kiddokat - i can't imagine what your going through (i didn't have a pre op diet) ... but i've read enough here to know it's a tough part of the process. hang it - keep coming here for support when foods on the brain, it helps.

i hated EVERY Protein shake in the early post op stages, i bought just about everything on the market or what i read here via the internet. to date the one i still go to about a half dozen times a wk is the EAS Low Carb shakes. personally i like the chocolate / strawberry, they are 110 calories / 17 grams of Protein / 3 grams of fat.

the chocolate one is my new favorite - i feel like i'm having a cold glass of chocolate milk.

remember - it's a short timeframe, then the real fun begins:)LOL

Hello all - 'specially the Texans. Just got banded last Friday in Houston. Went back to work today and aside from being painfully tired, am feeling pretty good. Good luck to all with procedures coming up. Sure I'll have questions for all of you experts soon, but so far, so good!!!

Hi all :tongue_smilie:

I'm in North Texas (McKinney).

This thread never really caught on for some reason. Glad to see it moving now!

I've been on the fence cause I guess I'll have to leave to another group when I turn 40.

I feel for all you guys on the pre-op. My doc didn't require it either.

I am not sure what is wrong with me...but I am so hungry! I think I went too long without "food" and let the pouch get too empty or something. My husband and son had garlic bread and salads...I almost cried it smelled so good. I started slamming a Slim Fast. It did the trick (and also made me nauseated) but I really, really wanted a bite of that garlic bread. =( I am glad that I am going back to work Wednesday. Literally every other commercial on TV is food. I've never noticed it before. I napped earlier and dreamt about pizza...how pathetic, right? I told my hubby I was sad and he said that I should be happy because I will be losing weight. I think I am mourning food! :tongue_smilie:

Hi everyone!

I'm glad to finally see such a response here in the 30's!!

To the pre-banded: good luck and stick to your pre-op diet - it sucks but will not last forever. You can do it!

To the newly banded: hang in there - the diet progression sucks too, but you will be eating "real" food soon!

To the rest of us: keep on keepin' on!!!!

And you all thought I was going to impart some deep wisdom to you! Nope!!!!

Take care, all!

Robin

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
