HOw long did bruises last for some of you? I'm 17 days out and I still have a giantly obnoxious bruise on my lower left stomach from the heparin shots and a not quite as obnoxious one on the right side from the heparin shot. All the bruises (except for a little tiny bruise in the middle of my stomach) have pretty much disappeared now. The best way to describe the giant obnoxious bruise (which is about the size of a softball) is that it looks like zombie skin!

i had them on both sides...when i came out of surgery the spot from the shot they gave me before surgery was the only thing i could feel afterward.!...they probably lasted a good 4 weeks or so...they start fading and go away don't worry! =)

Okay, that's good to know. I figured they would start to fade already, but good to know it's not just me. It's such an ugly bruise!

I am 14 days post op - I still have very large dark bruises in 3 areas, and remnants of bruising all over - GP at my first check up said I had the "best" bruises she had ever seen. She said nothing to be concerned about, and that (of course) they will eventually disappear.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
