Oh come on! Have some class heartme! Why did you bother to post here if you can't be supportive?

It's okay that you're hungry. I've learned that many people are. Make sure you don't cheat the diet your doctor prescribes, but be sure you are getting enough to eat/drink (depending on your phase). I am having the same trouble, and realized I wasn't taking in all that I could have. I feel better now that I am paying attention to calories and getting enough Water. Hang in there! You can do this!

I am controlling myself. I am reaching out for support which is one of the reasons why the forum is here.

I hope when you need help someone is more understanding with you, than you have been with me.

Turler - Thank you very much. I believe I need to be drinking more Water and I have been taking in approximately 700 calories.

Do u have some chicken broth? if not get some... The warm sipping, and the flavor may take the hunger away... U can do it....

How about you control yourself for once in your life!

You just had surgery! How can you be hungry?!?!?

Aren’t we behaving like an ass?

Marissa's Mom, I totally understand where you are coming from. I was banded Friday as well and I am so hungry. I’ve been trying to sip slim-fast for Protein when my stomach really gets to growling good. Sucks though, when my stomach growls really hard it makes it hurt and the incisions hurt too.

Keep up with good work with liquids, just think come Friday we can have thicker Soups :huh2: I’m excited! Message me if you wanna talk.

Hang in there you can do it. I don't know what your doctor told you but this is basically what I lived on, chicken boullion or beef, apple juice, hot apple cider, hot tea (green tea for me)I even made Jello and drank it warm and then when it was set I could eat tiny bites. We are with you, it won't be long now till you can have creamed Soup. It is worth it and you can do it.:huh2:

You know what, I too was hungry and I talked to doc and we decided I could have some yogurt, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, mushies, pudding and I was fine just don't eat fast and throw up eat to fast or too chunkie it is very painful and you may throw up so be cautios but don't beat yourself up because you are hungry and people should mind their manners and try to be supportive instead of judging, Karma is a very bad thing ya know?

Amy,

I'm so sorry you are feeling so bad. I was banded on 4/8/08 and just went from clear to full liquids today. It made a big difference in my hunger level. I felt the hunger set in on day 4. One thing that is hard to work on is getting enough fluids. On one hand you are being told to sip slowly and on the other you are being told to get adequate calories and fluids. When you are not feeling good an still in pain, its hard to concentrate on it all.

I agree that you should take your Protein supplements as nasty as they can be. I actually found tasty liquid Protein at a place called Vitamin World. I don't know if it is a chain, but it is called New whey Liquid Protein. It is a thick liquid consistency and comes in orange, fruit punch and raspberry flavors. 3.1 oz is 42 grams of Protein. I would dring about a half at one time and get in 60 grams of protein minimum most days.

If your hunger continues, maybe your doctor will put you into the next stage sooner. Alot of these guidelines are for Gastric Bypass Patients and banded patients can move through the phases a little more quickly, but carefully.

Hang in there!

Alice

On a positive note - its great that you have your appetite - I had mine back after 3 days. I took this as a positive and healthy sign that I was recovering well. I starting dreaming of everything seafood related - salmon, tuna, oysters - its wierd what you crave. My first mushie food (in 4 days and counting) is definately going to be a nice low fat Tuna Mornay :huh2:

Maybe you can check in with your doc to see if you can add some low fat milk (if its not allowed already). I find a mug of warm cocoa really keeps me happy during the evening when my appetite is strongest. If you are hungry, you may find they are open to adjusting the prescribed list.

Good luck - onwards towards the greater good !!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
