I had no idea!

Recommended Posts

I just logged on to my primary insurance website. No idea why, because I never use it, but just did. Anyway, I clicked on the tab for preauthorizations and it showed my LB has already been submitted to them and denied (which I knew it would be, they don't cover it). I am so excited!! That means they are in the submittal process and I should know something in the next couple of weeks! I didn't even know I had gotten that far in the process! I mean, I figured I was close, but haven't even met the doctor yet (will tomorrow). Oh wow! I am just babbling and really have no reason to be this excited! I just feel like if they are going to the trouble to do the insurance submissions, I should be getting a date soon. YIPPEE!!!! :w00t:

I've never seen someone so excited to be denied! =)

Well, I knew I would be denied by that insurance because WLS is excluded in my policy. But they had to submit to them because that is my primary insurance before they could submit to the plan that will cover it. So that denial really is a sort of progress. Especially when I didn't even know it had been submitted. :scared2:

Wonderful! Will your primary insurance cover any of the associated costs, since you have dual coverage and your secondary is paying for the surgery?

Nope! They even called me to make sure I knew that our policy has a total exclusion for anything to do with the surgery. The hospital just totally disregarded that insurance and only filed to my secondary because of that. They said it was possible that they would pay for my testing then come back on me when the submittal for the surgery was made and they realized the testing was associated with WLS. I assume they know what they are talking about...:confused2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
