May 22nd!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I went for my pre-op testing yesterday, and since I haven't received any phone calls from the doctor's office, I assume we are a go! My sweetheart of a husband went with me yesterday (it was our anniversary) and we made a day of it. He is so supportive and I swear last night he was "nesting" making sure everything was ready for my recovery! I'm really excited! Having a hard time concentrating on work, which I have tons to do today. Taking off tomorrow around noon to do my bowel prep!:lol::)

Carrie C-I don't have to use an antiseptic, but do have to wash with antibacterial soap the day of surgery. I'm sure it's related?!? To prevent infection in your incision areas I imagine. But just guessing that's what it's for. I'm not super excited about it because its soo drying and i can't use lotion afterwards. LAME.

Can't believe, we're almost there!!

I was told to shower with an antiseptic product the night before or mornng of. They said any pharmacy would have some in it's first aid product section.

They gave me a bottle at the hospital. They also told me I couldn't wear nailpolish! Very strange.

ONLY 2 MORE DAYS!!!

Never heard of the antiseptic showering - not even for any of my other surgeries. I would think that they would clean the area with antiseptic in the operating room!! Is this an HMO???!!! Trying to save money!!! LOL!!!

Anyway - start my liquid diet tomorrow and stocked up on all my other supplies for the days following. How exciting and nerve wracking!!

Tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day. I'm kind of an idiot I think. I'm working, because I thought it would help me get things wrapped up and keep my mind off of what's happening tomorrow, but it's not! Not at all. Go figure. Good luck to everyone for tomorrow!!

Weird about the nailpolish thing! I wore nailpolish on both my fingers and toes! It wasn't a problem! I did have to take my nose ring out though. It came out fine, but when I got home and tried to put it back in, my nose had already started to heal up! I had to force it though, and my piercing is over a year old! My ears heal up quickly too. Maybe that means my port scars will too! :)

Yea, the nailpolish thing is weird. They also said no makeup, but I wasn't planning on wearing it anyway!

I had to start my liquid diet today, and it has been very hard. I hope it is easier after the surgery.

they told me no makeup or hair products. the only thing i put on was deoterent, and brushed my teeth.

i think liquids are easier after surgery, i only had some Soup yesterday and i've been up for 4 hours today and i'm not hungry for anything at all. i had some hot tea this morning but thats been it so far. i do think i'm struggling with some emotional eating, like i feel like i should be eating but i'm just not physicaly hungrey! so i'm not eating, and i'm feeling fine so far.

So with the nailpolish thing, they actually gave us an explanation on that. If people don't wear light enough nail polish, the oxygen sensor can't get a very good reading on your finger, so they just tell people no nail polish. Our nurse consult did say it was okay to have acrylic nails, just to have them as clear or french manicure. Go figure!

I am so glad this day is about 1/2 over. Can't wait for tomorrow...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
