Can hardly get anything in...

Recommended Posts

I was banded on April 2 (last wednesday). Everything went smoothly, I spent the night in the hospital and was released Thursday morning. I haven't had too much pain and initially I didn't have much of an appetite so I wasn't eating much. Gradually I was able to increase what I could get in, but the past 3 days I've been feeling really full all day long on almost nothing. Today I woke up and drank a few sips of Water and then tried some yogurt and felt like I couldn't get it in then I had a sugar free popsicle and later tried a carnation instant Breakfast. Couldn't get much in. Now I'm working on a Protein water. I probably won't be able to get in much more today. I'm consumming so little I'm dropping weight like crazy. I'm hoping this is just due to swelling and it will go away soon. At this point I couldn't handle anything other than liquids and its making it hard to imagine ever eating solid foods again if I'm full on Protein Shakes.< /p>

sounds about right. i wasnt even hungry the first week or so.

if you've been banded a week, you are probably still on liquids anyway. concentrate on getting Protein in. Isopure makes a good (kool-aid like) drink that has 40 grams in the jar. GNC carries it, im sure there are many other places to get it.

good luck, keep us posted.

I to did the same thing you are doing now..I was banded 3-31...it started last Sunday, I was soo hungry but couldn't get hardly any liquids down due to feeling sooo bloated/full inside, up high...went a few days like that and ended up in the hospital with severe dehydrattion for a couple days...just keep trying to get it in anyway, sure don't want to go through what I did,..I'm still pretty weak and tired feeling now...just a quick note also, I beleive the full/bloated feeling is from gas still in there, I know mine is, yesturday I had gas pains in my chest and collar bone, so I'm sure that's exactly what it was/is...good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
