Scheduled for May? What Day?

Recommended Posts

My doc didn't mention doing anything like that, so that's why I was wondering. I was just told to be on liquids all day today.

Well good for you since I am not feeling great with this laxative churning through me LOL. I have noticed here there is a wide variation on what is done from surgeon to surgeon. Did you have the 2 week clear liquid preop diet?

No, I didn't have to do that either. Just today. I have also noticed that there are a lot of different instructions from the different surgeons. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!!!!!

Well, my surgery got postponed. We found out a week ago that my white blood count was too high so they put me on an antibiotic. Checked my count again on Tuesday and it was still too high so the surgeon said he would not do the surgery. I went to the doctor today and it's a sinus infection. He put me on a stronger antibiotic and I'm waiting to hear when my surgery will be now. I'm hoping for next week some time.

Good luck to the rest of you!

Ok so I'm a little late responding to this but I just found this site like 2 days ago (wish I had found it like 2 months ago). Anyway, I was banded 5/23 in Conroe Texas.

Hope all the May bandsters are doing well. I hope that most of you are off those yucky Clear Liquids.

Hey Bandfan, how'd the fill go?

I am in Bandster hell- I am hungry, with minimal restriction and can't wait until I can get a fill. I feel like I am just dieting. Plus, my life is very stressful right now. We have to move, and the place we were going to move to flooded, so I had to quickly find another (we have to be out of our present place by this weekend!). Luckily, I found us a place, and even more lucky, we hadn't moved yet to be flooded. Thank goodness!!!

Thanks TMFRITTS!!!!! I got home from my stay at the hospital a couple hours ago, I'm pretty sore, and starting to get reallllly itchy!!!!! I can't wait to start loosing weight. Right now I'm feeling really worried about eating, its like when I first got braces, I didn't eat any solid food for weeks because I was afraid they would fall off!!! Now its kind of the same feeling, I know I can't eat solid food for a while but I'm really nervous about something bad happening!!!!! I don't want my band to slip or anything! There is always something new to worry about lol. Thanks for the support!

P.S. Good luck everyone being banded on these last two days of May!!!!

I am on day 3 after surgery. I feel the same way that you do. I am afraid to eat. But, I have started eating full liquids. I love the Campbells Velvety Potato Soup. It took the whole day to eat it, but it felt great going down. I have a very full feeling at the top of my stomach. I don't know if it is because of the lapband, or just sugery pain. It hurts a little when I breathe. Good luck to you.

Hi All

I was banded on May 27th. All went well, and the Dr was surprised at how much I was walking. A bit of a setback for me though because I caught my hubby's cold. So pretty miserable from being sore from the surgery, and now the cold. GRRR. Sneezing and coughing aren't much fun right now.

I tried some strained cream of chicken Soup. Drank abou 3/4 of cup, and felt so full like I was gonna burst! Lesson learned.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
