I am right there with you. Banded 4/2 and the gas pain is killing me. No bowel movement yet-just gas. Nothing has worked for me either. I am up and moving, used Gas X strips, Gas X chewables, and tried warm liquid. No relief. I dont feel horrible though-just more tired than post op day 1 & 2.

This is day 4 post surgey for me as I was banded 4/1. I feel the best I have felt so far, but still have the gas pains, and yes I am farting alot too. Not fun, but I want to get it out of my system. I added Protein yesterday (liquid forms). Patiently waiting to not have gas anymore!

I'm 6 days post-op and I think I finally have the majority of the gas out. I don't feel it in my left shoulder anymore. What seemed to help most was when I walked around the block where I live. Gas-X strips didn't seem to help that much.

so, i've got to say, i had pretty bad gas pains yesterday, especially last night. they were so bad that i even burped twice, real burps, not air pockets. those are the first burps since the surgery. then i let out some really big farts (sorry, but i did), which have also been difficult for me since surgery. it helped, and today, i don't have any gas at all. go figure.

i have no idea what did it. gas x never worked, and i haven't taken any today. walking didn't work, and i haven't walked today. heating pads didn't work, and i didn't use one last night or today. hot liquids never worked, and i haven't had any today. i guess it just took time. course, i probably just jinxed myself by talking about it, but there you go.

Hi, I was banded 4/2 and lost most of my surgery gas within the first three days. However, starting on my forth day I started having different gas problems. My stomach just felt bloated and I felt like I had a ton of gas. It was very painful and I still experience it now. I got so sick I threw up air. I thought that maybe I had a virus, but then again on day six (today) I woke up and had the same feeling. I ended up throwing up air again.

I found that walking helped the surgery gas, but there's not much to help with the gas I'm now experiencing. Yesterday, I was able to walk around 1/2 a mile. I thought that may have helped, but it seems that it only delayed the pain (must haved moved it around a bit).

I start back to college today and I have classes late in the evening, which is usually when this all starts happening. I'm hoping that it dissipates today. Otherwise, I may have to stay out longer.

On a good note, if the scale is accurate, I have already lost around 20 pounds, which really helps my feelings on the situation.

I was banded in 06 and had extreme gas pain for about 2 weeks post op. The heating pad and a vibrating massage pillow helped....it lasted for about 3 weeks. However, ever since my surgery, I get the same left shoulder gas pain about 1 a month...around the time mother nature visits.....nothing seems to help except time.

I ended up in the ER, and spent two days in the hospital with an NG tube down my throat. The gas had my stomach distended and that was the only way to get it out. Doc said that I needed to adjust to living with the band. Apparently I'm an "air swallower" and I have to make a conscious effort to only breath through my nose. I'm so bummed. If it happens again, they may have to remove the band. the Doc gave me some medicine to help keep things moving along and as of today, I'm burping often if not easily. I really hope this all works itself out - no pun intended. Thanks to all of you for your help and support. At least I know I'm not alone.

lafsalot, I'm so sorry you ended up with an NG, that is horrible!! I hope your feeling better now and don't need to have the band removed. Keep us updated on what happens with you.

Thanks Tara.

I'm feeling much better today... I don't want to be too optimistic, but I almost feel normal. It was kind of strange, because I felt it - it just seemed as if my stomach said "ok - I get it now." Again, I'm almost afraid to make this post because I don't want to speak too soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

gwyllgi- I am 10 post today and still have gas pains in left shoulder and middle of my back a little to the left. I also can't burp anymore. Before surgery I could, I don't know why I can't now. Does anyone know why that happens?

Hi, I had surgery today, the pain from the surfgry is fine, but I am trhrowing up air, the pain is horrible from the gas. I am pretty much pain tolerant, however, this gas pain is something else. I think that walking and the incline helps, this is my first day. I notice when I take the pain medicine it worsens as mommakatx2 said in an earlier post. Are you a nurse? Hands over the head is working. The incision pain does not really hurt, I am thinking of not taking it until I am in really in pain.

TODAY I am three weeks post op. I feel great. I still have tenderness at my port site and gas! I don't know if it is normal, but I still have it. Thankfully, gas x helps now. If you are concerned make a call to your DR. Because my gas no longer hurts I haven't called. I am starting to think I will always be filled with gas!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
