My progress since banded on March 20th

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone- I hope you all are diing well. I was banded on March 20th but my doctor wanted me to do liquids for a week before my surgery - so I did! Then I was on liquids for a week after the surgery. As of March 28th I have been on grinded food (Oatmeal, chicken, turkey, carotts, potatoes) only 2 oz. per meal - 3 times a day but drinking a lot of Water in between and my 2 vitimens a day. I start solid - non grinded foods today - still only 2 oz. per meal. My next doctors appointment is April 30th - My doctor wants me to start eating "regular" 5 days before I see him. I am hungry 75% of the day. I have a one year old boy who keeps me very busy - THANK GOD! or i would be hungary 100% of the day. This is by far the hardest thing I ever had to do. I quit smoking 6 years ago. I was in drug rehab 20 years ago and have conquered both... This is tough... However, I get my first fill on April 30th and I am hoping to feel some restriction. The wonderful news is that since March 13th (one week before I was banded) I lost 21 lbs.. I am on my way and could not be happier - I am hoping to be a huge sucess story in the lapband family! Good luck to everyone.

Hi

I was banded on the 5th of March. Do you have any soreness in the place where the band/port is located? I still feel sore...I have a hard time sleeping on that side. I have my first fill on the 17th of April.

I am hungery all the time too!

Have you started exercising yet?

good luck to you...

M

Hi Ginny:

I am so proud for you! You are where I am trying to go. I just had my banding 4 days ago and am on the liquid and blended stuff. I too am growing tired of this, but it is going to be well worth it!!! I won't have my first fill until May, so I have a long way to go. Be encouraged and keep up the good work.

Roz

Congrats on your progress!!

Yes it is very hard - I was banded on March 24th and like you on liquids for 7 days then mushies after that. It is so hard a times when you are starving!! I will be glad when things get more normal. I am still having soreness in the port area also. BTW, my first fill is April 30th also. I am looking forward to more restriction.

Keep up the good work!!

(PS - It is hard giving up everything - I was a closet smoker and gave up food and cigs the same day - it is a hard thing what we are doing....but we have to remember the end results)

Ah food, I wish I could have food. I am complaining all over this board today, but I have to be on just Protein Drinks, broth, sf Jello, and sf popcicles for 3 weeks. Oh yeah it has been hard! I 5 days left to go. Funny thing is I have not been hungry at all. I think when you eat it makes you hungrier. Congrats to all of you and enjoy your eating! :cursing:

Ginny, wanted to check on your progress. I have lost 18 lbs and I also was banded 3/20 so you are doing very well as far as I am concerned. My doctor put me on mushies last Friday and I am to remain on them for 1 month. Will be a long month. I think I have head hunger not real hunger because at night, after everything is done, I "want" something to chew. Lately the choice has been SF Jello but I would KILL for an oatmeal/raisin cookie!! My 1st fill is scheduled for 05/30 but that is because I am going on vacation 5/17 (Hawaii..YEA) and I want to enjoy myself while I am there and not worry about PBing. Keep up the good work!! I have had several people tell me I look like I have lost weight in my face and last night at class (Senior yr. college..can I get another YEA!) a friend walked up behind me and said, "lose anymore and you are going to lose those jeans." I Loved It!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
