How long did you have to wait for your first fill?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 3/07/08 and due to scheduling conflicts (dr's and mine), I will not be receiving my first adjustment until 5/07. Is this overly long to wait? Just curious to know how long most people have had to wait.

Hi,I was banded on 1st March 08,and my doc does 1st fill at around 6-8 weeks.I have no restriction at all at the mo,and its just like I have never had surgery(apart from my scars) I cat wait for my fill,I feel like I am failing at the mo as Im not losing any weight and still over-eating.

I had my first fill yesterday, exactly 6 weeks after the surgery.

How do you feel now after band fill, and how was during the 1st 6 weeks? Can you feel a change?

I definately feel a change. I have to have liquids for 24hrs after the fill, but even with just liquids, they go down much slower and I can feel it sitting in my stomach for longer.

my doc does things a little differently. i am on liquids for the first 6 weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks, but he fills me every 2 weeks, so by the time i am able to eat real food, i've already had 4 fills/have good restriction. i like the idea of this, but since i am only 1 day post op, i'm not sure how i'll like it 6 weeks from now.

I had to wait six weeks and 6 days for my first fill. It is tomorrow. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I have very little restriction now and not losing very fast at all. I've been gaining and losing the same pound for about a week. I'm still restricting what I eat but a littel help from the band would be nice.

I was banded on 2/19, had a follow-up 1 week later and at that appt, they scheduled my first fill for 3/10 (3 weeks after surgery). After your first fill, he wants us to call in after 2 weeks if you are hungry, eating too much or not loosing enough and every 2 months if you think you don't need a fill. I had my second fill yesterday 4/1.

2/19/08 - Surgery

2/26/08 - Follow-up

3/10/08 - First Fill

4/01/08 - Second Fill

Thank you for all your replies. I guess I will not be too far off track! Yesterday, I ate a sandwich (tuna melt) and it went down way too easily! However, I was so full for the next 18 hours it was ridiculous! I learned a little lesson there! It always amazes me at how easy it is to slip back into bad habits!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
