Has Anyone Used Dr. Geiss in Syosset NY

Recommended Posts

I have an appointment with Dr. Geiss on May 2nd. I asked if there is anything i could do to move the process along, they told me i could get my cardio clearence, and make my appointment for my psych and nutrional evaluation. I plan on going on a cruise in October and I am hoping that i will be able to have the procedure done with enough time that I will be feeling better and maybe even have lost a few pounds. Has anyone used him, and how was your experience.

I appreciate any input.

Sue

I used Dr. Powers, who is the same office as Dr. Geiss. The office staff is very nice and helpful. I have my band for two years now. My primary doctor recommended Dr. Geiss but when I called for an appointmnent he was pretty booked so the office asked if I wanted o use Dr. Powers. I have heard a lot of good things about Dr. Geiss but I don't know him. Dr. Powers is very quiet, but very good, I liked him a lot. He seems to care a lot about his patients, and he's very quiet, but has a good sense of humor! I always think that the doctors that share a practice are similar to one another, so you should be in great hands. Good luck to you and keep in touch.

Hi HealthySue. I also have an appt with Dr. Powers on May 2nd. I too want to speed the process along.

I don't have a regular cardiologist, but want to see one as soon as possible. What do I tell them is the reason I want to make an appt with the Cardio? Do I just tell them that I am considering Lap-Band and that I need 'clearance'?

Thanks, in advance!:biggrin2:

Oh my gosh, i am sorry that i have not been on in such a long time. Did you get your cardo apt yet. I just tell every doctor that i make appointments with that i am in the process of getting approval for a lap band procedure, they are all familiar with the process,. You will find that most people are very happy for you, and they all say oh well come back and see us because we've heard that people do really good with the band. Let me know if i can be of any help to you. I have actually gotten my surgery date and it will be July 31st with Dr. Geiss.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
