Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

So... what do you fellas do?

Recommended Posts

I was just on the "where are you" thread and got the idea to start a thread to see what everybody does for an occupation. Put down what you do now and also what your favorite job has been.

I am a design modeler for a heavy construction company. I use SolidWorks to design concrete structures such as, parking garages, high rise business buildings, prisons, etc.

I think my favorite job--if you can call it that, was being an actor in a passion play about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. I was a part of the show for 6 years. It is called The Promise and it is in Glen Rose, TX. There is also a show of the same play in Branson, Missouri. I played everything from a mounted Roman soldier to the appostle James son of Zebede, and in my later years of the show I was one of the Pharisees. I got to be the bad guys and good guys.

Let us know what you do and your favorite job.

Great idea for a thread - this really helps us see the diversity of our new community. I am a SVP, Human Resources. I am also a dad of an autistic son. Other than that I volunteer on the neighborhood board and the local autism board.

I'm a respiratory therapist and a sleep therapist.

I just went through a sleep study in March'07. Pretty strange sleeping with all those wires glued to my head!

Was diagnosed with interrupted sleep... not apnea, thank God. The interrupted sleep was probably because I was working Midnight shift at the time. I no longer work that :)

Here in Texarkana, the bariatric docs make every lapband pt get a sleep study. It's pretty cool having just been through it myself. I can usually answer a lot of questions....

Old jobs included

AppleBee's Manager

Sous Chef at Country club

I get little exercise cause I can remote form my laptop into just about anything, so I don't even have to get out of my chair. :cursing:

I have worked in the ship building industry for the last 28+ yrs. I spent most of that time in the Pipe Dept. I recently had to give up my job as a Superintendent for health reasons (lower back). I now work in Scheduling building various required schedules and tracking schedule progress for the duration of the ships construction.

I am a Senior bulk power grid operator, I sit in a control room for 12 hours a day (or night). Not much in the way of physical activity unless you count walking back and forth to the coffee pot or the bathroom!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
