Just checking in to see how you're all doing! It's been nearly 2 weeks since anyone has checked in. How are you healing? (Jennifer & Carol) How are you managing on the post-surgical diet? Blue, how's your Couch25K going?

Hope you're all having a good summer thus far! :)

really enjoying my summer vacation - yet very busy ( as usual)

had a great visit with Dr R yesterday - he wasnt so pleased that I had gained so much weight since my full unfill - well guess what - now I know why I have the band!!! I need it!!!!

anyhow he filled me to 5cc and told me I can come back in two weeks if I feel like I need more - so I made an appointment for 2 weeks and for 4 weeks, I will decide which one to use.

In the meantime I am on liquids and feeling great and motivated!!!!

I will keep you all posted

Tova

Hi Paige,

I'm doing really good!! :) Saw Dr. R. Mon. I lost 10 lb. since surgery, 30 total!! Never thought I 'd make it with those shakes :) for 2 weeks, but, I did. Today was my 1st day to eat REAL food. It was wierd, I was afraid to eat:huh2:?? So paraniod about throwing and getting stuck!! I only ate 1 scram. egg with Am cheese and stopped, for Breakfast.< /span>

I was so starved at lunch, I had a "shake" to get 32 gr. of Protein in me. For supper I calmed down and had turkey meatballs and FF gravy and FF Creamed greens. about 1/3 C. each and stopped (from my garden, Kale, Collards, Pac Choi, & Vita greens)

Now I'm trying to wait my 1/2 hr. after my meal to drink my Water. My computer is in the shop, somthing got me. Overall, very possitive about it all :yikes: Thanks for asking:wink2:!

Hey All,

Hi Geniseg,

To be honest, this has been a tough couple of weeks/Months!! I had my gallbladder out 3/31 so I knew what expect of Major Surgery. Not Fun but bearable. As a matter of fact, this 2nd surgery was easier than the 1st with a major hiatal hernia repair thrown in for good luck. I just didn't appreciate 2 surgeries in 3 months.

The 2 weeks pre-op & 2 wk post-op diets of Protein Shakes really pushed my limit but, I stuck with it. The 2nd week post, I started to feel hungry and ater a good cry, I felt alot better!! I did not cheat, I've worked real hard to get here. I'm afraid to push any buttons that might make me tempted so I'm not going there.

Day 2 of soft foods, today, I cooked 2 scram eggs & ate about 2/3's of (The dog finished them) 2 hrs. later I had 4 oz. Unsweetened Applesauce Plus Fiber. For lunch I went out with Hubby. I got a cup of Clam Chowder, mashed the potatoes and spit out the clams.

I've heard too many people say they can and do eat much more. I don't want to know how much I can eat, so I'm sticking to "The Plan" from Phyllis. So to answer your question, "I'm being Good."

Don't go into this thinking it's going to be easy. Be prepared, plan ahead and call on us for support!!:)

If I don't do this now, I won't live long enough to see my 7 grandkids grow up. That's what's keeping me going. I know you're a strong Lady!! I know you can do this too!!! All prayers are welcome, I'm gonna need them!!!

Hey Paige,

Did you mention a smoothie with Peanut Butter, banana and flax oil? What else goes in it? Yogurt? I'm not even sure it was you except for the flax oil part??:)

Thanks!!!

Carol so glad you are doing so well. Yes those few weeks out of surgery are tough but you did it and its onwards and upwards...or should I say downwards in pounds. lol you can use yogurt but you will want to thin it out with milk or ice.

There are a million variations its: Protein power of choice, if you use chocolate power then just add banana (I like to freeze mine in chunks), milk and or yogurt, fax seed oil. Or if you use vanilla/unflavored power add sf chocolate pudding mix, coco power or sf Hershey Syrup. Right now for a change I am experimenting with using oj,frozen pineapple chucks, bananas and Protein Powder.< /p>

Tova I'm glad your tests came back ok and you are getting back on track.I'm going back right after the holidays for a fill.I hope get my restriction back bc I NEED it. Being doing great during the day but the night time eating is getting out of control. And damn it I am hungry.I really appreciate my band and what its done for me

Carol,

I'm thinking it must have been Tiny who did the shakes with Peanut Butter. I play with extracts and fruit, but stay away from yogurt because it grosses me out. :tt1:

Glad you guys are all well. Tova, so relieved you're ok. Tiny, I'm with you....in need of a fill. I have been relying on myself, not my band and it's starting to show. I have my foot surgery on July 22nd, so thinking I'll schedule an appointment for a few weeks after, when I can drive again....but I desperately need a fill, too. Maybe in a month or two. :frown:

Happy 4th!

I am planning on going to the Monday group as well. I'm scheduled to see Dr. R for my first fill on July 20th. He actually just referred me to an oncology surgeon who I see on the 13th. During my Lapband surgery he saw some lesions on my liver and sent me for an MRI about a week after surgery. Well turns out I have 5 Adenoma tumors on my liver. They are typically benign, unless they get too big. So I guess I have to see this other surgeon to find out if they will just monitor them or if I will need surgery to get them removed. I wonder if it will affect me getting my first fill??? I am one of those unfortunate people who has discovered that I can eat anything right now Carol- HaHaHa. Though I am down 52 pounds so I haven't lost complete control yet. Anyone else familiar with Adenoma Tumors? :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
