Hello,

I'm really having a bad morning today... I'm totally disgusted with how I look and how I feel... I spoke to the nurse practitioner at the hospital I'm planning to get the surgery done at and she said if all goes well, it looks like a surgery day in mid to late May... I know I should be thrilled with that and most of the time I am, but today I just feel like I can't wait that long... I had the worst time trying to find clothes to fit me today... My pants were tight, my shirts suddenly got shorter or wait is it because I'm getting rounder??? I feel like spring is right around the corner and I'm just not prepared for less layers and more skin... Sorry if I'm ranting or sound like Ihave the poor me's but it's just hard waiting it out when you know you are ready now.

Thanks for listening,

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I know exactly how you feel, I've had a million mornings exactly like yours, it sucks. <hugs> I started trying to get lap-band in August 07 and met a friend at the seminar. She got banded in October, when I finally go approved. I had to wait until Jan of this year and I was gaining weight at an alarming rate while waiting.

It's upsetting, but I decided I'd just buy clothes that were big on me and hope I could wear them for a while before having to get another size. It was awful, but in the end it was worth it.

I'm still way behind my Oct friend in weight loss and when we met for lunch the other day, I was really feeling like the chubby friend. She was bigger than me pre-surgery, but a couple sizes smaller than me now.

Having said all that, it's worth the wait. Do something special for yourself today. Maybe go shopping and get yourself an outfit that feels great!

i know how you feel. after losing tons of weight, i gained back 15lbs. all my skinny jeans are tight. yuck. i feel ugly too. but i know that all the efforts im making are working for me. im running and lifting so it is all good. ill feel better when i can strut my stuff. you will get there too. i always feel better when i have goals. little ones to big ones. i buy great music to pump me up. and if i feel really down, well i put on my pearls and diamonds. that totally makes it all worth it..... good luck.

Wow, you are preaching to the choir with how you feel this morning! How many days have I felt that way. Chin up, your day is just around the corner! Look at the bright side. It sounds as if insurance is paying for you so you are $13,000 ahead of me with money to spend on new clothes after you get your surgery! Now that is something to smile about! Have a good day and remember... no matter your size you are beautiful and people love you for the inside not what has accumulated on the outside!:rolleyes2::cursing:

Thanks everyone for your kind and uplifting responses... I am a little bit better now that I'm busy at work and thinking of other things... OKay so this is really embarassing but the kicker this morning was when my under shirt rolled up over my tummy and my undies rolled under it! LOL How bad is that??? Well, thanks again... I knew I would find comfort here!

Smiles,

Shannon

I am going to be banded in April.. But I also have been eating everything in site and because of that I have gained 20 lbs since I started this process in October. (I had 6 months of hoops to go through to be approved by the insurance.) I start my 2 week fasting April 3rd I hope I don't cheat.

Rascal,

Sorry you're having "one of those days". We've all been there, and that's what has brought all of us here. So big hugs your way!!

Now, on a more practical note, if your surgery is in May, no reason why you can't start the weight loss part of your journey today. Think about the fact that whatever weight you start to lose now will be the less weight you need to lose once you are banded. If you aren't already, start healthy eating now, start getting in all of your Protein now, start excercising now, start the life of a bandster---pre-bandster. If you do that you will be way ahead of the game once May rolls around.

It took me six months to get a date, and it was pure hell, cause I thought the band was going to make me skinny. One more cheese steak, cause once I have my band I'll be skinny, one more Chunky Monkey ice cream cause once I get my band I'll be skinny. Guess what I found out, the band is not making me skinny:crying:. The band will help me but me and my choices are the only thing that's going to make me skinny. Might as well start making the good choices now, and I believe that your "bad mornings" will come fewer and farther between.

Good luck to you, and keep your head up, those shirts that are too short now will be dresses on you this time next year:thumbup:

*hugs* sorry your day is starting off bad, but what always puts me right is some good music!! For me lately it has been Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, and Chris Ledoux. Great upbeat music enough to dance too. And that is what I do, gets me moving and moving makes me feel better!!

I hope things go better for you sweety

Thanks Megan... I know you are right... Sometimes it's just hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel... I started really watching what I was eating yesterday and plan to stay on track until my sugery. My doctor does not require a pre-op diet, but instead requires that you lose 5% of your weight prior to surgery.

Shannon,

Glad your feeling better.

The underwear, undershirt battle was hilarious. I've seen that battle many mornings myself and my belly seems to be Switzerland sitting between two battling countries that continue to get further and further apart.

Hang in there soon Switzerland will be getting smaller and smaller:w00t:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
