I hope yours will loosen on its own, I had to have an unfill last week and now I feel like I can eat a cow. Where oh where is that sweet spot!

Home made lentil Soup (yum)

Saute a chopped onion with three slices of bacon (bacon fat seasons it all real good)

bag of lentils and about 8 cups wather or more

1/2 c. shredded carott

1 tlb cardemium

2-3 tsp curry

chicken stock base (enough to make the Water taste like chicken broth) or use canned chicken broth instead of Water with a little base

Bring to a boil and simmer about 30-40 minutes...

The secret is the chicken broth and cardimiun (don't know how to spell it)

If you like split peas, make some of that soup. I use a ham hock in it for seasoning and shredded carrotts and onions with bacon. Can you tell I am from the south? LOL

Beans are also good and have protien and Fiber, not to mention they are soft.

I had my first fill on Wednesday. It went very well. The procedure was truly painless and Dr. Curry was so fast and acurate. He said you will feel a stick and then he said all done, I swear it took me longer to type that then it did for him to do it. I stayed in the office a bit sipping a drink. Then I stayed in a hotel overnight before driving back home (2 hours away) just in case I couldn't keep liquids down. So far so good. I have only had liquids and a couple of mushie things. I do feel restricted but not overly. And that is fine. I ask him to be conservative so he put in 1cc. He also said I could come back as soon as two weeks for another fill if I am not losing. I told him taking it slow was fine with me and I would probably wait longer then two weeks.

The true test will be when I move on to more solid foods.

Hope your fill has loosened up a bit.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend

Where oh where is that sweet spot!

That is exactly how I feel, I think the doctor was too aggressive with this fill, he took me from 1.2 cc to 2, he should have picked a number in between, I'm probably being punished-- I so wanted to have restriction, but not this much...I went ahead and called the doctor's office (had to leave a message their not in yet) so that they know that I'm having problems. If I don't feel better by Monday, do you think I should go ahead and get an unfill??? I probably should. I hope they don't charge me to have an unfill

I wasn't able to eat anything last night and I felt really crappy, I had such a bad headache, I thought my head was going to explode. What a bummer??? I've had to cancel my weekend plans to Orlando, because there is no way I could enjoy myself in this state... I would hate for my family to put up with me all weekend feeling this crappy. Maybe I'll take the kids to the beach instead? At least I can run into the bushes to pb. LOL Well thank you both for being so caring and thank you Alice for the recipe. Today is my little girls 4th birthday, she is having a birthday party at her school during lunch (I took the easy way out, don't have to do any clean up) She was so excited this morning, Those are the little things that make life worth living, I love to see smiles on my children's faces. Well talk to you all later. I have to call and make sure the cake is going to be ready on time..

Love,

Thanks, Vicki, I now am wishing my doctor would have been conservative too. Maybe that's what I should start doing, just plan to stay overnight close to the doctors just in case this should happen again. Its just too bad that he only sees patients on Tues and Wed, smack in the middle of the week.

Well the doctor's office just called and they tell me that the doctor is in surgery all day today and then has a meeting so there is no way he can see me today, this realls stinks, I am having serious doubts about the decision I made to get this band, is it worth all this trouble? I better look like J Lo when this is all said and done and all the weight is gone or I'm going to be really mad...Lol Well, the nurse suggested what you all had already told me, stay on warm, clear fluids through the weekend and hopefully I will feel better by Monday, you know what's bad, that he is not in the office on Mondays either, so if worse comes to worse, I have to wait until Tuesday morning. Please pray that this restriction loosens up a bit.. And today is my little girls b day and I don't get to eat cake with her, what a bummer. Well I better head out, I have to take the cake and pizza to her school.

Have a good time with your little girl and just drink broth for strength if that is all you can get down. Don't let this ruin the other wornderful blessings you have around you.

I am going to pray that you loosen up as I am praying that I too will loosen up.

I once fasted on diluted clear juice for 21 days and did fine. You will not wither away drinking juice or broth for several days.

Vicitoo.... hope all goes well with you.

I am leaving town this weekend to spend some time with my 21yo daughter. She was the inspiration for me to get the band. It was her words I heard while alone in Mexico, no one speaking english in the OR, "Mom, you will NOT regret this".

I am very tight too, still. It has been one week today. I started my period yesterday so I am going to give it a few more days.

I can eat Soups and soft food, but forget meat! I didn't like to eat meat before the band. I always ate Beans and legumes.

I am getting nutrients, but I am so used to eatting so much, LOL.

I will be back online Sunday... Have a blessed weekend everyone!

My doc explained that you normally feel tighter the first few days due to swelling - so all clear for 24 hrs, then full... soft... back to solids on day four or five.

I had the opposite issue - felt no restriction after the fill until I had solids and then it was WOW.

Hot tea has helped me and I can only drink room temperature Water, etc.

Also... if you get dehydrated (at all) it causes the stoma to swell a little too...

Cold beverages/food also cause increased restriction.

Not that I am an expert, lol... read most of these things here and there.

HTH... let us know how it goes.

Honestly, what you describe is what I was expecting and was disappointed when I didn't feel that way... trying to find that thin line between restricition and not is so difficult. When they were adding my fill and asking me how I felt it was difficult to determine if it was good or not... KWIM??? They did it under fluro so the chance of an overfill is less but still.... I didn't want to PB Water.< /p>

Anyway, long winded here...

Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

Hugs,

HI Estela,

So its been a few more days are you doing better? What about those extra 5 pds are they gone? I hope you can ride out these few weeks without having an unfill. But if not I have heard that sometimes the littlest amount taken out can help tremendously. How about searching some threads on unfills? Maybe that will shed some good advice for you. I hope you better..Thinking of you

I am going well this morning, I can eat, I am sticking to mushies for another day and then I'll try solids, I stayed mostly on warm liquids this weekend and i did well. I have lost 5 lbs since Wed, so that is good. I went home Fri so I haven't been online since then and didn't know what happened to Blossom. I am so devastated, she got banded a day after I did and I always felt we had such a special connection, she was so nice, I am truly going to miss her, I feel very bad right now, I am so upset. I don't understand, why these things happen. I pray that her husband finds the strength and courage to get through this time. Thanks all of you for being so caring toward me, I will talk to you later, I don't feel well now.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
