#1 Worry-Stop Thinking Just DO IT

Christina-So sorry you've been denied after all this turmoil. BUT, I believe a lot of insurances will deny and make you go thru the appeal process. Never will make it easy (as if this whole thing could EVER be considered an easy process). Any chance of self pay and keep fighting the insurance (to keep your date)? Good luck with your appeal. Keep strong and keep fighting. I'm praying. Take care.

My GYN was a huge help to me in getting my file together. During the 6 years before my surgery I'd been seeing her regularly through attempts to conceive and two babies. She had loads of notes on my weight and other health stuff she was watching. Not only was she able to say that I lost weight between babies but also substantiate my otherwise good health, which bolstered my argument that I wasn't interested in RNY.

Your not wanting to wait more than a month is totally understandable, Christina. But I think you're closer than you realize to an approval. Definitely give it another go!! You'll probably find that it's impossible to collect if you have surgery and then fight them. One element of many insurance policies is a strictly enforced precertification requirement for surgery, and if you proceed without that they really do not have to ever pay for it.

Christina, when I scheduled my surgery, it was for 7 weeks out and it seemed like a lifetime...now, I am almost 3 weeks away and find myself having to really start with the mental preparing...the doubts, the last surge of research, the excitement, and it will fly by, I'm sure. Just ask Jammin Jamie!

What I'm saying is, in the big scheme of things, one little ole month is not that long to wait. It will be worth it to forge ahead with the insurance battle and sit tight than to just pay and hope for reimbursement.

Keep us updated on the battle!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
