Well, I couldn't take it any longer...I went for an unfill today. My fill was a full CC last time, three weeks ago and I lost 17 pounds in that time. I haven't been able to eat much of anything. I tried to be a trooper, but it was really starting to piss me off. Then when hubby and I were at Olive Garden last night and I couldn't eat Soup?!?!? Oh no! I left a message and got in today. She took out .4 CC and I went to Jason's Deli tonight. IT FELT SO GOOD TO ACTUALLY EAT SOMETHING! I couldn't eat very much at all, of course, but I didn't get stuck on the first bite, either. It was awesome! I feel so much better now.

Hey all I just wanted to check in...Had a long orientation day..I got good news, I thought I did so bad on my final today, and my teacher didn't score to of my questions right and then she ended up giving us like two points. Then I took my last quiz today and I got two points higher than before!!! I was so happy! It seems silly, but this Pharmacology class has been kicking my butt!! I know someone upstairs is helping me out because boy I am sure thankful for it!! I went for a walk today. It was like 50 degrees and well that is just awesome, so me and my dog went for a walk. It was a good just to get a little bit of exercise..I was so excited at lunch today, one of the cashiers looked at me and said, "Wow you have really lost weight haven't you, and well that made me feel so good because sometimes I wonder, if I am the only one that sees it!! Okay you all have a good night!!

NY Girl: You will love this thread!

Hi everyone, just checking in. My surgery went well. The muscle repair hurt alot, but I am already able to get up and down by myself and walk straight. I can't tell you how much I think that exercise has helped me recover. Just being able to do a squat and rely on my leg muscles has been a big benefit. Also, don't have that much bruising etc. I think that exercise has made all the difference. Besides the pain from the actual procedures, I think this recover has been easier than the lapband recovery. Keep on exercising. It rocks! Can't wait to get back to the gym! Hopefully, I'll start reporting in April, we'll see what the doc says!

Karey-welcome back. Good luck on your continued rehab.

Jess-great news on the tests! Keep it up.

daddy-keep up what you are doing, keeps me inspired seeing your success!

Stef-sorry about the overfill. Hopefully, with the unfill, things will get back to normal.

Ok, now for my update. Yesterday, I was off from work, so I went in the morning to the gym right off and tried my own little indoor triathlon. Swimming went not too good. I ultimately swam for just over 1/4 mile but had to rest for about 30 seconds btwn each lap.:cursing: Knew it was going to be my weak point, just gotta work on it on my off days when I don't lift.

Showered off real quick, hopped on a regular exercise bike, and did 45 minutes on a cross country setting. Made it 12.2 miles in that time.

Hopped off the bike, refilled the Water bottle real quick, and hopped on the treadmill. Ran 1.25 miles @ 5.5 mph, followed by .5 miles @ 5.0 mph, .75 miles @ 5.5 again, .2 miles @ 4.0 mph, and then .4 miles @ 5.5 again. Total of 3.1 miles in about 35 minutes, running almost the entire time. That, to me, was the most impressive. Did not think I would run that much after swim and bike. Figure I burned btwn 1550 and 1600 calories btwn all 3.

Went to my first MN Wild game last night. I don't know much about hockey as I grew up in IA, but had a blast. However, did not get to bed last night until 2300.:cursing: Still got up this morning for cardio. 50 minutes on the elliptical for 4.02 miles and 825 calories.

CERADAD - Thanks for the well-wishes...I am MUCH better now, and still losing. So I am in good shape. It sounds to me like you did just great for your "trial run" triathalon. It's okay to rest, and you will get better. You have come so far in such a short time!

KAREY - Good to hear from you! Keep taking care of yourself and we look forward to you posting regularly when you are all healed up!

DADDY - You're doing great, too! But boy, you seem to get busier and busier...I don't know how you do it. Kudos!

JESS - Great news on the tests! Oh and on your previous comment about no one understanding how important exercise is to you...I know what you mean. I catch "flack" about working out so much, but it makes me happy and it makes me feel good...I'm addicted! So you keep on keeping on with your exercise. Just keep your life in balance and all will be O-TAY!

Absolutely! I find I NEED to exercise or I just don't feel right. On my non lifting weeks, by the end I almost feel as if I am "jonesing" for a lifting workout. Which is one of the main reasons why I put those in every 6 wks. Otherwise, I find I start to get burnt out and find excuses to not go in and workout. I'd rather take a week off and recupe than stop altogether.

That's great that you have found what works for you. I think there is SOMETHING that will work for everyone if they would just keep at it long enough to find it. The rewards are so great!

Absolutely Stef. The important thing to remember is to just get in their and move. Even if it is walking around your neighborhood. Which, btw, seeing as it is finally getting decent up here, I can start to do with my dog. (Funny sidenote, my german shepherd has always been skinny for a gsd. Now that I have been losing weight, he has gotten fat. Guess I forgot to walk him enough while I've been working on losing weight. Poor guy.)

But, the important thing for people to remember, is that this lb tool is a triangle. You need the lb, diet and exercise to be truly successful with it. You leave one aspect of it out, and you are not living up to your abilities.

daddy....after trying, and failing pretty miserably, to swim 1/4 mile yesterday, if you are swimming even most of 1/4 mile straight my hat goes off to you. Wow! That kicked my butt. My shoulders are a little sore, but my ribs are just now getting much more so.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
