Mom that's awesome! Congrats :) Say Hello to sipping Water again!

Good morning all! For those that didn't catch it the first time check out http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/what-have-you-lost-44347/ this threads has a list of things and what they weigh. I have lost an ELEPHANTS PENIS no joke.. Jeez I bet their backs hurt alot ;) Sounds like the chat room here now jk

On a serious note i do have a question and will probably spend time looking it up today. It's not secret that I like to have a glass of wine. Well even knowing the horrible amount of salt and calories in a margarita I have tired to have them a few times at my favorite

restaurant... What happens immediately after taking the first sip its like the band instantly tightens up. Sometimes I can have the glass and sometimes it makes me slime and I have to put it away. Even when I was open enough and was eating breads and stuff it would instantly lock me up.. Sounds weird but I have experimented a few times to see if it was the time of day the situation the drink etc. It seems to me most alcohols.

Any idea?

Way to go Turler! That's awesome!

I'm excited too. I lost another 1.5 pounds. It's exciting because TOM is still around and I drank two margaritas last night. I figure I was brave to even get near the scale today, but I'm glad I did. I'm hoping my weight loss will now catch up with all the work I've been doing! Woo Hoo!!

Tonight my oldest DD and I went to the Celebration of Life service for the son of my friend I was telling you about. He passed away last week. The service was so amazing!!! I've never seen anything like it. It was so uplifting and positive and beautiful. What a blessing to be a part of such an awesome tribute!

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

YAY!!!!!!! Good job!

Omg Bea...I had 2 Margaritas last night too! I thought for sure I'd screw up everything I'd worked for all week. I have been logging my food and really paying attention. I even had a sliver of chocolate cake that I shared (with 2 other people). I couldn't believe I had lost! I did a happy dance right then and there! LOL (not a pretty visual, but hey).

So, after all that, I then turned around and had a very bad eating day today. I'm scared to journal it. I was at an all day scrapbooking thing and the food was provided. I didn't get a choice in what was served, but I did partake in the cookies/dessert tray. So that makes another ding for me, but I'll be back on it tomorrow!

Bea - so glad that the service went well. Celebrating someone's life is always an amazing thing! Plus, way to go on the loss:)

L2L - I do log onto Daily Plate as supermomof5 (momof5 was taken) I will go on and check out the groups and figure it all out. I haven't been able to lately because I am in the process of launching my own business and the roll-out party is today:0 So, once today passes, things should get back to normal!

Good Monday Morning to all! I had an awesome weekend. I actually got to put the 'im losing weight' mentality to the side and have a blast this weekend. We went to our indian casino about 1.5 hours from here and stayed in the hotel. I won 1,000 playing Bingo so that paid for the weekend!

I think that I might be a little tight. I am not uncomfortable so I am going to try and work through it for a couple weeks. I am one of those that loosen up so I will try to wait it out. I am not pb'ing or anything but if I take a drink I can feel it sit at the top of the band then trickle through. I have to chew everything to liquification or I would PB. I just got the fill on Thursday so it's not panic time yet. If it tightens up anymore I will go in for slight unfill.

We walked all over at the casino this weekend so that was my exercise. Plus my husband and I thought it would be fun to race up the stairs each time we went to our room... I didn't win but I kept up.. I was very proud! We were staying on the 4th floor. I am sure security got a good laugh out of us a few times.

What's up with the site? I haven't been able to log in all day and when I did, my post didn't show....

Anyway,

Congrats on your winnings Brandy! I know that was exciting.

Be careful with yourself though. Don't get too tight. I'd hate for you to have to get a unfill. It is now fun!!!

Hey Mom. I am guessing all of us were having problems. The lack of posting reflects an issue. I had to submit my posts yesterday about 10 times before it worked haha.

My bands starting to loosen up slightly. I can eat a little more and I am alot closer to being back to normal. IE I was able to eat 1 slice of turkey, slice of cheese, and a bite of avacado. Getting there  Thats huge in comparison to the all liquids that I was having to do with a bite here and there

So how is everyone today?

I've got a nasty stomache bug. I've been sick since last night. If I'm not better by the morning I'm going to have to call my doctor. I'm not getting stuck on anything...I'm just really nausiated. I had some anti-nausia medicine here at the house (from surgery) and it seemed to have helped. We've got a virus going around the family - my turn.

I can finally post today!

Brandy - glad to hear you were able to eat something more than liquids. I know you are too!

L2L - be careful! And I hope you feel better.

Well, bye bye to tightness....don't know where it went but it is gone once again. Luckily, I can't eat alot but I can eat too easily and things I shouldn't be. I guess I will be back for another fill in a week or two.

In the meantime, I am starting "Clean Eating" today. My stomach is the issue....I am losing everywhere but there. I went shopping with a friend yesterday, had so much fun. I could actually fit in a 14 BUT my muffin top looked aweful with all the shirts I tried on. Even the sweaters didn't look good. I did get some things and made a promise to myself that I would do something to get into them!

After much studying of the issues, it seems that clean eating will help. It is what most body builders and people who need to cut down on bloating do. So, I have promised myself two weeks, that's how long I have until me and my hubby have before going to Lake Placid. This will give me time to see if it works and feel good again! I found a blog last night where people challenged each other to do this for the month of October and so far most of them have lost anywhere from 5 to 10lbs....

Sorry, I'm rambling but wanted to get this out...So how's everyone else doing?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
