Today I went shopping and bought everything I need for my pre-op diet, I can't believe surgery is only 10 days away now. It feels like just yesterday I made that first call to the surgeons office. Its all getting so real now!!!!! Tonight my mom made me my favorite dinner, chicken pot pie and mashed potatoes. My dad was like, enjoy the last normal meal of your life... all sarcastically, hes just being ignorant because he has no idea how the band even really works, but hes so rude I don't even respond to most of what comes out of his mouth, screw everyone who doesn't believe in me, because for once in my life I finally believe in myself!!!!!!!! Congrats Felicia and everyone else, I am right behind you

I went shopping yesterday! I spent like $200 but am set for a long time. I also packed my suitcase for my trip since I am traveling. I only have ONE WEEK to go!!!! Today is going by like the blue blazes so I hope the rest of the week follows suit. I have been keeping everyone VERY busy with seat work, which is actually not my style but I only have a few days to get everything finished up here.

Good luck to all being banded! Thanks for your stories on the other post! It is nice to read what you are going through.

Allison and Shelly!!! And anyone else!

WE ARE ALMOST IN BAND LAND!!!!!

Don't you feel like a kid saying, "Are we there yet?" Well I say, "Yes...soon...we will be there!"

I go to see the surgeon tomarrow! I have not "seen" her ever except at her seminar! In Feb. I saw her PA so this is sooooooo exciting!

I used to have so many questions, but since I have researched and talked with all of you and all...I don't have that many anymore!

So, thank you to all of you for sharing and posting! It truely helps you know what to expect and all!

YEA FOR US!!!!! SHELLEY

P.S. BIZZYBEE I KNOW HOW THE LAST WEEK IS AND HOW CRAZY IT IS! HANG IN THERE!

I know I'm so excited!!! Part of me wishes I had more time to PIG OUT, hahaha, but most of me is so excited to get on with my life!! The first day of my 10 day pre-op liquid diet wasn't too bad, I've been having cravings for normal food but haven't been giving in to them, which is good, and unlike me, lol. Although I was working so hard today painting my room by myself, that come dinner time, my head was pounding and I could barely see straight, so I cooked a little egg substitute and that gave me the bit of energy I needed to get through the rest of the day. I don't think theres anything wrong with weening myself into the liquid diet a little slowly, and the egg substitute was the only thing I ate today not on my list... hahah I'm just trying to convince myself I'm not a cheater lol.

Haha amsderb, when I had an appointment with my surgeon last week, I felt so stupid not having any questions to ask him when he asked if I had any, but I really didn't! I've learned so much here I feel like I am really prepared for everything this surgery could possibly throw at me! Good luck everyone with days coming up!!! I can't believe its getting closer and closer!!!!!

But yeah i just wanted to let that out thanks for listening

Good for you for not cheating:smile:

I went to my pre op today...it all seems a go! I even had lost more than my required 10% of excess body weight! OK so I had lost 17.5 since my weigh in there at the end of Feb! Yea for Me!!!!

Now, I just have to not blow it this week...but I'm sure I'll be fine!

FYI...she gave me a Rx for the patch that goes behind your ear (like motion sickness one) so that the night before I put it on and it is supposed to help with nausea sp?.....I tend to get sick from the stuff they knock you out with:drool:

So that is about it...Here is a group hug for us all!:wink2:

Hey Jessica! All my friends came home from college this weekend or last, so a couple of them wanted to get together to go out to eat tonight. I felt so weak and dizzy from this stupid diet that I had to pass, I knew that right now I wouldn't be able to just sit there and watch them eat anyways. I have all my pre-op testing and by tomorrow it will only be one week until my surgery!!!!

My sister that was being such a b*tch before is now really supportive, I'm in the process of telling a few friends, and I could not be more excited!!!!!! Now I'm just hoping I can make it through this diet!!!! It sounds like yours Jessica, but no bar! No solids at all! Just shakes, and sugar free Jello and popsicles and chicken broth. Good luck with everything!!!!

Hey Allison I'm really proud of you for sticking to your diet so faithfully! I know its a HARD thing to do! Good for you for knowing that if you went you would give in, very wise to avoid the situation all together! What color are you painting your room?

If you really want to know what people think, I am happy to share my 2 cents.

If you aren't excited, if you are already looking for a way to do the minimum, if you are not willing to do everything it takes and adjust how you do things... you will fail.

It's not about what a certain doctor requires, it is about what you require from yourself - including making "sacrifices" to enjoy better health, better aesthetics, and a better relationship with who you are and who you want to be.

Nothing about WLS is miraculous... and you truly only get out of it what you are willing to put in.

Why would you consider this if you weren't willing to put everything into it?

A suggestion would be to find a therapist who specializes in WLS patients, someone who can help you understand why you started this process but seem hesitant to finish it.

glad you got it figured out! I have just been doing what I've been doing because I am one of the "no real pre-op" diet girls....Tuesday I will have a light breakfast...soup for lunch....at one do bowl prep...and dinner just clear liquids...so....I am eating but very little...today I had 2 Protein Shakes and chicken and broccoli for lunch...

I will continue to eat light the next few days....and then do all liquids starting Sunday so my bowl prep is easy...that is what i did before my hysterectomy last summer.

Ok Girls. Wow my date is coming up on Tuesday! I've been doing really good on the Pre-Op. So glad I bought the Unjury Protein Powder, because not once have I felt weak or headachey.

I've lost 6lbs so far with the pre-op diet. Starting to get a bit nnnnervous, but trying to take it one step at a time.

We have such a busy weekend, that before we know it, I'm going to be in recovery!!!!!!! (I hope!)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
