March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Of course, I realize that A-Dub will now spend the rest of the day googling various combos of "Wii, controller, johnson"...

If only I had the time! :rolleyes2: :)

but I did go to a Water aerobics class last night, "Deep Water Workout". I am feeling it in parts of my body this morning, but will go back for the next class. It was a hoot.

Deep water workout, sounds great! I used to do "Water Running" (that is literally exactly how it sounds -- "running", neck deep in water, without touching the bottom of the pool) and I loved it. I should actually get back into it! When it's not so cold.

Hey Fenton,

A quick "Protein shake clarification" - do you peel your bananas BEFORE you freeze them? I didn't quite think it through yesterday when I chucked my bananas in the freezer, then spent a good 10 minutes trying to peel the goddamn frozen banana for my shake this morning! Not for the faint-hearted!

Or I may just be a wimp. It's highly possible.

Haha! Not that you're NOT a wimp, but I quickly discovered that a frozen banana is almost impossible to peel - you really learn a lot about the structure of a banana that way.

I buy bananas a half dozen at a time - in the US, at least where I shop, they're always unripe, so I leave them to ripen (almost to overripeness, actually), then peel them and freeze them.

Don't mind me. I've been writing papers all day, i'm cold, I know i should go and go some exercise before I go to bed but i'm putting it off.

Right, that's it!

I'm putting on the iPod and getting on the Wii Fit!

(wow... i should be in marketing... or just stop being so influenced by it...)

Hi Everyone.

I am glad to hear that everyone is doing well. I haven't been writing, but I have been reading. I, too, am doing well. I have managed to lose a total of about 30 pounds since March 25, and that includes weekends in both New York and New Orleans. I have no restriction, but I am trying to hold off on a first fill until I stop losing weight on my own. Am I the only one who hasn't gotten a fill yet? I keep going back and forth and would love to hear from others who have yet to be filled!

Anyway, summer is in full swing, kids are in camp, and I am getting into a new excercise routine...no wii fit for me either, but I am tempted!

Keep up all the good and hard work!

Erika

By the way,

I also wanted to share that I have found the ABSOLUTE best tasting Protein Powder on the planet. I am very picky and promise you that it is awesome tasting. I get mine at GNC and it is called Max Protein, but not all GNCs carry it. I guess each store is individually owned and operated, but ask your local store and if they don't carry it, they can make arrangements to get it. The have chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. I am all about the chocolate and make a shake every morning. If you want/need more info. I'd be happy to share. I don't endorse many things, but this is in a class all by itself!

Geez, I've been gone a long time! When I logged in it showed my last log in as 4-25, so almost 2 months! I'm really happy to hear everyone is doing well, and I need to get caught up on my reading. I've just been skimming today.

So far I've had 4 fills, up to 6.5 cc's and have lost 33 pounds so far. My last fill was the one that did the trick. Hadn't been losing much up until then, but I got the last one on Wednesday of last week and in 6 days I lost 9 lbs.! (Whoo-Hoo!) But I'm starting to notice that I've lost some restriction but I'm scheduled to go back on July 7th so we'll see where I'm at then.

Just have to say that I LOVE "having" to buy new pants because my old (size 24, gasp!) are falling off and I don't even have to unbutton them to get them on and off anymore! (Lucky Hubby, tho! Which in that I've noticed a big difference too! I feel a lot sexier and I am now lighter than when we first started dating.)

Anyhoo, sorry this is long but I've missed all you guys!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
