Good Evening,

I was banded at Windber PA and couldn't be happier. The staff, doctor and people were fabulous. I would say the best in the business. Highly reccomend.

Love,

Nicole

Hi Nicole, I too was banded in Windber by Dr. Marley. They are the best. I was banded Feb. 11 2008. Do you go to the support meeting? I haven't in awhile but plan to go in March. Stay in touch.

I am hoping to attend a support group meeting in March. How are you feeling Rachel? I am definately hungry. When I say hungry, I mean for the taste of quality food...not that my stomach is hungry. I have been sticking to it...so good so far.

I live in Alum Bank Bedford county just moved here from Johnstown. I will be banded on March 17th with Dr Marley at Windber hospital. I go tuesday for my pre op and get to start the lovely 2 week diet.

My sil also works at the hospital in xrays. My 2 sons were born in Windber hospital 19 and 23 years ago.

hello everyone!

If you go to support group you've seen me - I go every month.

Darlene - sorry but Dr. Marley won't touch a Mexican band. I don't know the whole story but he's very firm about it. I heard a girl from Somerset has to go all the way to Erie to get someone who will give her a fill. Is the money that makes you choose mx? I know Dr. Marley does a payment plan, if you have most of the money down maybe you could finance the rest through him? Just a thought. Still wish the best of the bandworld!

HELLO STEPHC,

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY! THE MONEY IS PART OF THE REASON FOR GOING TO MEXICO, BUT THE MAIN REASON FOR ME IS THAT NO DOC IN THE STATES WILL EVEN CONSIDER ME FOR SURGERY BECAUSE I'M OBESE BUT NOT MORBIDLY. DUMB, HUH?? IF I'D GAIN 30 MORE LBS., THEN THEY'D CONSIDER ME. I'M ALREADY HAVING MAJOR HEALTH PROBLEMS AND IF I'D GAIN 30lbs. I'D PROBABLY DIE. ALSO, I RESEARCHED FOR OVER A YEAR AND FOUND THAT Dr. Ortiz IS MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO DO THE SURGERY. HE'S DONE OVER 5000 LAP BANDS [WITH NO DEATHS]..... MAYBE IT WOULD BE EASIER IF I GAVE THE WEB SITE... obesitycontrolcenter.com CHECK HIM OUT.

AGAIN, THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY AND GOOD LUCK ON YOUR BAND-VENTURE!!:cursing:

DARLENE

Darlene - I've heard good things about Dr Ortiz, so I don't doubt he's well qualified. If you have health problems they will band you. I think its a bmi of 35. Have you talked to Dr. Marley and gone to his seminar? So if you are a self pay and have co-morbites (sp??) you should be able to have it done here. Either way, I wish you the best. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I think he charges 13K - I think thats what it was when I had mine done back in Dec 06, so I'm not sure what it is.

When do you leave for Mx?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
