Where's your port?

Recommended Posts

I am left handed and carry lots of stuff on my left hip/side. Can I request it be put on the right or centered? Will the doctor think I am nuts?~Mandy

I would ask your doctor, because obviously from all the posts there seems to be no exact spot. I am left handed too, so I know where you are coming from.

I don't think you can request where the port is placed. Each doctor has their preferred spot for various reasons. I wouldn't want to ask my dr. to do something that he/she isn't familiar with. I didn't even know there were different locations until after I got mine.

I'm a righty, above the waist and to the right of where the belly button should be and sewed into the muscle, or the muscle sewed around it, well, you know what I mean.

Oh yea, I did this same thread several months ago, it's a fun thread.

Mine is about 2 inches down from my right rib cage and about 2 inches from the center of my abdomen. Easy to get to and a quick stick for the fills and unfills.

I just spoke to another Doctor today & he said he would place the port anywhere I wanted to betwn a few spots. Like to the left or right of the belly button & up 3 inches or under the bra line up high. He also said we may be able to place it below the bikini line if I agree to an additional insicion. But said he prefer not too. He is left handed & therefor is most comfortable placing the port to the left side & up above the belly button area.

Port Number One is in a jar of formaldehyde lost somewhere in Mexico.

Port Number Two is probably on some scientist's desk at Inamed in the "to do" pile.

Has anyone seen my port?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
