I feel so Lucky---March 17th - St. Patrick's Day

Recommended Posts

Hi SpecialK and all of our 17th Shrinking Shamrocks,

How are you doing today. When you do go for your pre-op?

I went for my pre-op at the hospital this afternoon. All went pretty well. Except they could not get any blood out of my veins! Hospital called this past weekend and told me to stop all liquids at 1am so that is what I did. Well that is what caused the problem. So now I have to go to another lab to have it done. No big deal, just inconvenient. EKG came out good. Was very happy about that. On to the next stage. Got my time for the surgery! 9:15 am. March 17, 2008. Hope all of us 17th Marcher are doing well today. Keep your eye on the goal.

Hi everyone! I had my pre-op this past Friday, as well as my last visit with my surgeon - everything went smoothly. My husband has to give me a lovenox shot the day before (3/16), which I believe is to help prevent blood clots. (Does anyone else have to do this?) He was a med tech in the Navy, so he should know what he's doing. :-) I'm first on the surgeon's schedule (unless something comes up), so will probably need to be at the hospital by 6 a.m.

This is my third day on pre-op fast - yesterday was tough, hope today will see me over the hump, although I am 5 lbs down since Sunday. (Anyone else notice how may food commercials there are on TV at night?) I've been using Carnation Instant Breakfast sugar free for my Protein drinks. One of my co-workers recommended heating the milk before adding the powder. I had hot chocolate! Very good!

I don't have to have a shot, gages - that doesn't sound like much fun. Still drudging through this liquid diet, it's getting old but at the same time getting easier. It has made a huge difference having people going through it at the same time - do you agree?

Anyone else's office being overrun with girlscout Cookies?!

Yes, the liquid diet is getting old - yesterday went really good, now today I'd give anything for a piece of meat. :-) I tend to enjoy sweets, but I think even I've reached my limit with 6 packets of Carnation liquid Breakfast (sf) every day. Think it's time for some broth. Hope everyone has a great day - the end is in site (or is that the beginning)?

Hey, I have a 3-17-08 date as well. I live in Harrisburg, PA. Anyone near here? Good luck to you all. I think I have been eating more bread, Pasta and red meat this last week than is humanely possible. Take care.

March 17th for me also! I am so excited I don't know what to do with myself! My surgery is in Nashville, TN at Baptist Hospital with Dr. Charles Morton. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30am, I guess that means I will be his first that day. I hope he will be good and awake! I imagine I won't sleep much the night before. We will be staying in a hotel near by because we are a 2 hour drive from the hospital. I would really like to have a nice meal the night before, wonder if that will be okay? I've been on the pre-op diet for 10 days now, something good to eat would be real nice. The doc did say nothing to eat or drink after midnight before surgery.

UniqueZeke - I agree - the pre-op diet is getting old, but we've made it to Day 5!! I was so hungry for meat yesterday - heated up a cup of beef broth - tasted like a steak!! Yummy! :-) The weekend is going to be tough for me, but I'm going to hang tight - I've followed it to the letter this long and am proud of myself. Sunday I'm on strictly Clear Liquids for 24 hours prior to surgery.

Okitsme- I too am excited. I have three children under 6, so I am desperately trying to get those "loose ends" completed. Of course, they all need Snacks for St. Patty's Day, Easter, etc. Take care!

Good luck to ya Jessyca!! We can all do this, if we don't lose our minds from the pre-op diet, we'll all be great! I can't wait to get to compare our weight loss after surgery! Woohoo!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
