Hi, I am currently living in TN for the last 2 yrs but moved here from Appleton,WI. Was born and raised in Milwaukee. Had my band here in TN 11/9/08 and love it! My mother-in-law actually worked with Dr Chua in Milwaukee who does that LAP band and is excellent.

Glad to meet you!

There are some people who have had wonderful successes with the band on this board. I'm one of the few who have had complications - a band slip, severe reflux, and my fills totally removed twice. I wish you luck if you do this, but it hasn't been an easy road for me.

I have had my band for 4 years.

Shadow,

Where in Wisconsin are you? I live in Marinette. I was banded on Nov. 2, 2007 in Green Bay. I'm still fairly new to it but I'm glad I did it. I haven't had any problems or complications. I have lost about 55 pounds at this point. Good luck to you in your thought process.

Robin

Hi Shadow, I'm from Baraboo which is just south of the Dells, about 40 minutes from Madison. Do you live anywhere near? Are you buried in snow like we are? I'm so sick of winter. Can't even get out and walk! On the bright side, it can't last much longer. If you are close enough to Madison the UW program is excelent.

Jenni--Dr Chua is following up with me, and my sister is scheduled to see him tomorrow. Who is your mother-in-law? You can PM me if you'd like. I need someone with some "pull" over there as I have a slipped band and they're not returning my phone calls!

I don't want to do anyting to make things worse, so it sure would be nice if they'd get back to me! Oh yeah, I live in Sheboygan. Good to meet you neighbors! GO PACK!!@!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
