Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, it is nice to see all the banter back and forth, how well some are doing and the encouragement I read. Bugs, welcome! I dont' get notices on posts anymore and it has been a while since I checked. Glad you went through with the surgery!

I am scared. I gained 5 pounds in the last few days from binging on easy foods (ice cream and cheesecake) so I called for a fill. I am scared if I don't get one I will continue to slide but I am scared if I do get one it will be too tight!

I can't believe it has been 9 months since the surgery and I still eat too fast! The only thing I am really good at is not drinking but then I don't get enough fluids. Barb says I even drink too fast! My appointment is on Thursday at 1:30.

Rain, another beautiful photo!

Eileen so nice to see your post.

I need to visit more often to keep encouraged and on track.

Val, I am glad u have some relief, I know when I was too tight it wasn't worth the weight I lost. I was miserable. Heal first, then worry about your diet.

Linda, it is so nice to see you back. if your weight gain is from slider foods, I don't think a fill will help. I am speaking from experience. Eat protien and see if u feel full and then you'll know.........It is hard, because I also let myself slide and now the thought of meat and cheese and eggs make me sick sometimes...keep us posted and just know you are not alone we are all struggling. the band is not the easy way out, it is just a tool, we still have to work hard to get to our goal.......vicki

Vicki, I forgot to mention I had a bagel and slice of pizza on Sunday with no problems and that scared me.

Which is the room with the leak?

Oh, gotcha, yea If you can eat that with no difficulty at all then maybe you do need a fill, that is how I felt when they deflated me and I gained a ton of weight. you only have 3.5 cc so dont hesitate to use you "tool" band, if you need to. I have 5.7cc and I can still eat more than I need to. Everyone is different though and even myself I was too tight at 5cc at one time and now at 5.7 I'm not so it is not an exact science i am finding out... trial and error I guess. stay posted and let us know how your doing.

I am signed up for the Sept. Seminar, WOOT, WOOT:thumbup:

I have a question though. Does everyone have to have a sleep study done before the surgery or is it only the one's that may have sleep apnea? If it is a requirement I want to go ahead and get it done now.

Dr hoffmans office gave me the form for the psych exam so I'm going to get that done ASAP, I just want to make sure I get everything I need done before the seminar so hopefully this process goes as smooth as possible.

Bugs I get it in my chest, it is uncomfortable and sometimes very painful and i take a few sips to help move it along. dr H. called it rescue sips one time, but he didn't like it, cause he doesn't want us to drink... Maybe someone else here has some ideas.

When I get that stuck feeling, I absolutely can't take the "rescue sips".. It makes it worse.. I just sit quietly and try to burp and hopefully it doesn't come up.. and it settles down.. you can kind of feel it go thru...it only has happened a few times that it doesn't go away by itself and when I don't feel better w/i about 5 minutes, I go to the bathroom and try to make it come up.. I then feel much better.. but this is so funny and I think that we would all agree that we all are so different and handle the stuck feeling in different ways. Some of the girls can take sips..some bring it up right away and many don't even get stuck !! good luck

Maggie, I would deffinately go for the psych exam asap but I would also call the office before you go thru a sleep study.. I don't know why it would be a requirement unless there is a question of sleep apnea or even any snoring.. Going for a sleep study is definately painless but also a definate pain in the BUTT!! If you don't need to, why then ? I would also call first..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
