Anyone start out around 275?

Recommended Posts

I am 5'5" and my goal is 126- maybe a bit out of reach but I'm reaching for the stars here! I started out at 271 before my preop diet and I'm down to 229 now. It's been 2 months since surgery. I am not even trying yet- I need somebody to kick me in the butt and make me exercise & I think the weight would come off even faster then. I think 145 is totally realistic for you. I sorry to tell you that your boobs are going to shrink! Mine have already gone down about a 1/2 a cup size... Good Luck!

Great job Anyalee. I'm totally okay with my B's shrinking. I averaged a 38C in high school fluctuating between 146-165 and would love to be that size again :cheers2:. Never actually been small chested once I developed.

never thought i'd be on a board where i'd shout my weight :cheers2: but i'm 5'5 and 290. I don't have the band yet, but i do have my consult in a week. My goal weight...well i have a goal, but it's not in lbs. I want to fit comfy on an airplane again. When i hit that i'll feel so successful. After that...i just want to be healthy. I hear bypass is faster, but the band is safer so that's the route i'm going.

I am 5'4 1/2" (5'4 on my paperwork) and started at 275. I'm now at 188 (down 87 pounds) and I had my surgery April 30, 2007. You can do it. I really haven't set my "goal" yet because I figured that I would know when I get there. I'm guessing that I want to lose about another 40-45 pounds, but I'm not really sure. Prior to surgery I was wearing a very tight size 22 pants...I really needed a 24 but refused to buy it. I was also wearing a 2x shirt, sometimes 3x. I'm currently in a 14/16 (regular, not plus) pants and a L/XL top. Below are my before and now pics so you can get a better idea. Also...regarding the boobs comments in here...my cup size has not changed which I found very odd. I went to Victoria Secrets the other day and got measured for the heck of it. Prior to surgery I was a 42D and now I'm a 38D. I guess everyone is different. You can totally reach your goal by changing your life when you get your band. You have to remember that the band is a tool and you have to change what you eat and how you exercise. I wish you the very best of luck.

Cup size in a bra is determined by the difference in the measurement at the fullest part of the breast and at the band. When we lose back fat, and side boobs....the band size changes more than the fullest part. So it is not totally uncommon for your cup size to actually go up at times!!! Mine did--I about cried!!!

Now my cup size has settled in, and my band size keeps dropping. I began in a tight 48DDD.......and now wear a 38DD.

The goal weight you have in mind is totally within reason! Many have made their goals, and beyond!!!

If you have not done so yet, be sure to spend some time gazing through the ispirational pages of Before and After Pix! Talk about success.....Looking at it is amazing!!

You can do it. I was 318 when I started the process with going to the information seminar, 300.5 on surgery day and today I am 234.8. My goal is to get to get under 200 preferably 180 eventually. I now see that as possible for me.

I started at 320 and lost 40 lbs preop to put me at 282. I am now down to about 218 with 35 more lbs to go. I will be happy at 185. I am 5'8" tall. Good luck.

And is now down between 140-160?

I'm 5'5 now and weigh 275 but my ideal weight would be in the above range. Heck, right now though I'll take just seeing 199 again.

In high school when I was about 5'3 I got down to 146 and fit (with a struggle) into my friends size 9 junior jeans. So I'm thinking with my boobs being bigger now, and me being a tad bit taller, then that would be a perfect weight for me.

I haven't gotten the band yet but hopefully will be on my way in a few months and hope the above range is realistic.

Thanks for any comments!

I'm 5'5", started at 272lbs busting out of size 22/24's and 2x.......

today as I type this I'm wearing a size 12 pant and a size large shirt!

PRICELESS BABY PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
