:Dancing_biggrin:Every thing went great. Recovery has been better than text book so far. Had my band placed on 02/01/08 in PV Mexico by Dr Joya. The hospital care was I would say different not bad for I am a nurse so of course I had my observation eye on everything they did well while I was awake any ways.

My stay was short and sweet 1 day in the hospital and 1 day at the hotel the krystal wich was great can't wait to go back there. My husband and I flew in on Friday and flew out on Sunday. I have the next 6 weeks off too focous on my self and to start a new life time of eating habits. If I had to go back to work physically I would have been ready today. Only a small amount of discomfort the 1st post op day I took 1/2 vicodin every 6 hours and there version of toradol. The last few days it has been every 8-12 hours. I have walked for an hour each day. Well I will quit rambbling. Good luck to the rest of you and I hope your recovery is as good as mine. :)

I was banded on 2/1 by Dr. Wagner in St. Louis. I spent one night in the hospital and have been on tylenol during the day, RX pain meds at night, mainly to help me sleep. I went back to work on Monday for a 1/2 day and a full day today. I feel pretty good, some gas pain, and for the first time today, hunger. I see the doctor tomorrow for a follow up and can not wait to stop eating Clear Liquids. As of today, I am down about 15 pounds.

Way to go Cynthia. 15 pounds in 5 days is my kind of weight loss. I hope I do as well.

Don't get back into things too fast. Give yourself time to heal.

Checked in today at around 7:50am. Checked out around 8:30pm. Surgery went great. No pain (as of right now) at all throughout. Had some discomfort in the midsection but that's standard. Walked around the room 3 times with no issues.

Actually there was 1 issue. I went from surgery to the recovery room, and after "an hour to an hour and a half" was supposed to be transferred to the short wait room. I waited about 3 hours in an uncomfortable stretcher that really hurt my back because they couldn't get a room open. Ugh. Other than that, everything was great. I hope all went well with the V-V's today.

Oh, and while watching TV I kept seeing pizza Hut ads like every commercial break. Thanks a lot TV.

Poor Peter!!! I can't believe they tortured you will pizza right after getting your band! That is just cruel and unusual punishment.

I'm glad to hear that things went smoothly otherwise and that you are home and moving around well!

I'll be joining you on Thursday!

Keep up the great work!

Hi everyone...

Had my surgery yesterday. Everything went GREAT!! My doc said my liver was perfect (thanks pre-op diet) and there were no other complications (ie; hiatal hernia's etc). My surgery was at 10am and I was home by 7pm. I have some "medium" pain and discomfort but I just keep on walking!! My advice to all of you as WALK EARLY AND OFTEN!!! I've been getting down H2O and Propel without problems. Looking forward to a speedy recovery and experience all the joys of BANDLAND. Congrats to everyone who has been banded so far and GOOD LUCK to those coming up. I'll give you updates later in the week.

Hugs,

Amy

P.S Keep sticking to those pre-op diets!! I've lost 15lbs

WOOT! ;) Big congratz to all the Victorious Valentines who just came home! Dx Mom, CynthiaMcC, Petergriffin, and Bigmarathoner (Amy - I was thinking of you hun!) I'm so happy to see your wonderful stories, and so glad it went well for you!

I see a lot of people came home the same day. The hospital I'm going to says it's a "23 hour procedure" meaning I will be staying overnight.

So glad to hear the great stories and smooth recoveries! I hope to follow in your footsteps soon.

Hugs!

(P.S. Pre-op diet: down 7 pounds now, with two weeks to go! UGH lol )

Hey guys ... I'm home and abdomen is in pain and discomfort ... and I mouth is as dry as a cat's ass... I am not a cheerleader for pain so most of you can probably take it better than I can. But after all this I still don't regret my opinion. I said a pray left it all in god's hands and I made it! Try to get back 2 everyone later or ASAP

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
