Keri

hi Keri,

I just got a quote yesterday for an extended abdominoplasty (TT) with Lipo where needed and it was just under 11,000. it would basically be a panniculectomy with a Tummy Tuck and muscle strengthening included. that includes everything including 1 overnight in the hospital.

since I've had 3 c-sections, my Tummy Tuck will be covered by my insurance company as a "scar revision" due to adhesions. I will only have to pay 250.00. now I just need to hurry up and lose this weight!

That is awesome!!!

A body lift does not lift your thighs. That is a whole totally different procedure. I have a friedn that had RNY have a thigh lift and she said it is the most painful procedure she had ever had.

She has had several plastic surgery procedures.

Total body lift

Breast reduction/breast lift/augmentation

face lift

Brazilian butt lift

and liposuction in areas that couldn't be cut.

The thigh lift is the worse!@!!

Has anyone heard of a body lift? I have heard that they can lift everything at once including your tummy and thighs. Just curious if this is true or not. If so. I would love to look into this after I have met my goal of weight loss. Thank's, Jen

I picked this up at my band surgeon's office yesterday. Thought I'd share:

Plastic Surgery - Surgery performed by a Plastic Surgeon to modify and change the appearance of an individual. The emphasis is on the change of one's appearance and no actual plastic is used for most of the operations.

Brachioplasty - This operation is performed to improve the appearance of one's upper arms. Excess arm skin is removed after weight loss. This operation is usually performed after all the weight loss has been obtained and is done under general anesthesia on an out-patient basis. This procedure is considered cosmetic in nature and is not covered by insurance plans.

Mastopexy - This operation is performed to improve the appearance of the breasts. This is an operation that lifts the breasts, changes the size and location of the nipple and aureola, and gives a firmer and more youthful breast. This operation is performed after weight loss has been obtained and is done under general anesthesia on an out-patient basis. This procedure is considered cosmetic in nature and is not covered by insurance plans.

Breast Reduction - This operation is performed to reduce the size and weight of one's breasts and to improve the shape of the breasts as well. In this operation there is a reduction both of breast tissue and skin of the breasts. This operation is performed under general anesthesia on an out-patient basis. This procedure is covered by many insurance plans but does have a minimum amount of breast tissue that must be removed. For this reason, one may have this operation performed before all of the weight loss to assure qualification for insurance coverage. Consult a plastic surgeon about this operation if needed soon after weight loss surgery.

Abdominoplasty - This operation, also referred to as a tummy tuck, is performed to remove excess skin and fat from one's abdomen. This operation is performed under general anesthesia on an out-patient basis. This operation is considered cosmetic in nature and is not covered by insurance companies. This operation would be considered after your weight loss is complete.

Panniculectomy - This operation is performed to remove the excess skin one has on their abdomen that hangs over one's pubis after significant weight loss. This is a medically indicated operation to improve the health of the skin on the abdomen that is frequently infected under the skin. This operation is performed under general anesthesia on an out-patient basis in most circumstances. This is a medically indicated operation and is covered by most insurance plans. This operation would be considered after your weight loss is complete.

Hi! What would you call the procedure when you have excess skin in your inner thighs! I find mine, really really gross! I lost 100 plus pounds since banded January 18,2007.

The use of extra skin from those of us that have lost large amounts of weight is not of significant quantity or quality for burn victims. The better place to contact is organ recovery agencies. They can direct you to skin banks that may or may not be interested in harvesting your excess skin.

If we want to help burn victims, turn your driver's license over and sign it - be an organ donor.

Hi can anyone recommend a surgeon for a brachioplasty? My arms have always been larger than anything else on my body. Now that I have lost 80lbs in 2 years my arms keep waving long after I have quit. This surgery is not done that often. Al the surgeons I found on the internet were not experienced in this. Thanks for any help. I live in Louisiana.

I think this is going to be a problem for me, too -- especially since I am 69 and skin elasticity would be an issue. Tell me what your research turns up..........................thanks.

I was just revisiting posts that I placed back when I first started my lap band journey. One of my first posts on this site was right here and at the time, just days before my surgery, I said I couldn't wait to have the problem of excess skin. Well, I certainly have it now after losing over 280 pounds. I'm in the process of appealing my insurance company over the denial of a panniculectomy. They said it was cosmetic instead of a medical necessity. I'm wondering if they saw the pictures that were submitted along with the evidence that proved all the skin infections and yeast infections that have resulted from the 25-30 pounds of excess skin that hangs down. I wouldn't change losing the weight for any thing but I won't feel like my journey is complete until I get the insurance company to reverse the denial and I can lose my "fat apron" forever! Logically you'd think is your insurance company approved the weight loss surgery then they should cover expenses that might come from the loss but then again, logical thinking isn't an insurance company's way to go. Wish me luck because I plan on fighting them tooth and nail to get approved.

Thanks, just now seeing your post. It was around $8600, plus I had to stay in the hospital a couple of extra nights (blood pressur got low and heart rate went up) for observation. With the extra nights, it ended up right around $10,000. I agree, my Dr did a great job and I am very pleased.

Has anybody had any after weight loss surgery plastic surgery at a surgery center? I can imagine getting a Tummy Tuck this way, but now im hearing about all the other proceedures as well. Has anyone had a body lift at a surgery center? How long does it take, and do you spend the night there? i thought this had to be done in a hospital? Im sure its less money at a surgery center but it sounds scary. In Mexico is it at a surgery center or hospital? does anyone know? thanks

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
