Sounds good to me. Here is some info on me.

I live in Olathe, KS - a Suburb of Kansas City.

I have been married for almost 5 years.

I am a manager at Sprint, and work from home (I love it!)

For fun, I play video games, read and love to Travel. (Which will be much easier in the future.)

I am 1/2 way done with my MBA. I graduate a year from now.

Maybe that will get things started.

John

hi gibson! hi john!

i live in burien, which is a suburb of seattle.

i'm a social worker, and have two masters degrees. if school weren't so darned expensive, i'd finish my doctorate.

i work in community mental health, and supervise a group of interns, the intake department, and a couple of staff therapists. i also coordinate the mental health contract with the county.

in my free time, i hang out at home, play on the computer, listen to music, spend time with my family, read, play with my cats, do crafts, cook, and am starting to get some exercise. i'm really looking forward to having more energy!

ok, who's next?

HI All,

I am the mother of a 2 year old... Mazie. She keeps me busy.

I started out needing to lose 200# and am over 1/2 way there.

My mother has had tons of health issues this past year, and I am currently separated from my spouse.

Life is hard- I'm getting used to it... BUT it is easier 100 pounds lighter.

Great Idea! My name is Ginny - I live in Brooklyn - I am getting banded on March 20th at Methodist hospital by Dr. Gorecki. I have a 10 month old little boy and Yes, of course I am doing this lapband for me and my health but after all is said and done the main reason I am doing this is to be a productive mom who is around for a very long time for my son.... It took me a very long time to bring this most perfect little soul into the world - I am 44 - I had 2 failed IVF's and on the third try God bless me with TJ - I am very determined to get 200 pounds off my body. I am hoping for a great support system with all of you....

He has substance abuse issues, it has been a problem for a long time, but our DD is 2 now, and he is not doing any better. Always the lying and never the hard work. I did think me being healthier, and more attractive may help.... but it hasn't, and that is NOT why I had surgery either.

I am better able to keep up with DD with 100 pounds less to haul around! lol

Hey all. I'm not sure if I have the "right" to post in here yet - I don't get banded until 3/6/08, but here I am. And I think I belong here.

I'm in my late 40's, live in NYC, work in the medical business. I've always been big - tall, as well - but I had a rough time after 9/11, and my bad behaviors all came out. I've gained about 200 lbs since then, and I believe that the Lap Band is my best shot at escaping from my bad behaviors.

I'm in the first week of my two week pre-op all-liquid diet, and am disliking it immensely. But I recognize the importance of shrinking my liver, and also suspect it's a useful technique for interrupting my bad behavior pattern.

I am unmarried, with a doting girlfriend for the last 10 + years.

I'm a bit scared of surgery, but I know that, since I don't seem to be changing my eating habits, it's either a lap band or a wooden box...

Nice to meet you all!

Hi everybody!

I'm Carol from Ohio! (This feels like a beauty pageant intro! lol)

I am not banded yet either...date is set for April10th--YAY for me!!

I love to ride bicycles, scrapbook, photography and lots of other stuff. My health is the reason I am here. I just can't do it alone. I've tried and tried and cried and cried. I'm done crying, but I'm not done trying! I have 3 teenagers, 1 DH, 3 cats and 1 dog. I work full time as an RN. Busy, busy, busy!

Nice to meet all of you!

Hey guys, I'm Gibson! I'm a teacher and I was just banded on 2/25. I've got 165 pounds to lose to GET to 165 pounds. I would feel anorexic if I weighed 165 so that's my goal, whether it's considered a "healthy" weight or not. I know I'll feel good and look good then!

It's nice to "meet" you all! =)

Congratulations on your surgery! How do you feel? Painful? Hungry? Good? .....do tell! :w00t:

Oh hey there, my name is Bridget!

I am not banded, and still researching self-pay options because BCBSFL basically laughs at the thought of covering anything like this!

I'm a Juvenile Probation Officer with an awesome husband, 2 dogs, and 3 cats! I volunteer for the Basset Hound Rescue by fostering dogs that would be euthanized withou us, and I love to write. If I can quit being lazy long enough to finish a book I might just get famous! :w00t:

My main reason for wanting to lose weight is that I want to feel better about myself! I want to feel attractive! I also have been trying to get pregnant for the past 1-2 years... and my doctor told me my weight can be greatly affecting my attempts to be a mom. I want to lose weight so that I can (hopefully, eventually!) have a child, and be an amazing ACTIVE mother!

I am aiming to lose 185 pounds total so that I can be 150 again!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
