I would be willing to meet up. I think it would be great to do something besides eat together. Maybe organize a walk at a park or something that could be good for us.

I would be interested in getting together. I live a couple of hours away but get in fills in dfw area, and I think the best time for me would be weekends and am open to the place.

Let's meet on a weekend--downtown Dallas might be a central location. I think that a restaurant would be a good idea. Since we're all bandsters, we could order appetizers and share them. Looking forward to meeting all of you!!!

Hi Cherri,

First, thank you for taking action on this.

To answer your questions:

1. I would love to attend (count my in as one)

2. I like the idea of a weekend for the first meeting, I think the odds that more bandsters could attend on the weekend.

3. That is a geography question and maybe we could take a poll some how, does this forum have an option to do that. If there are more RSVPs from East Dallas than anywhere else, it would make sense to make the meeting convenient for the majority. As for where, I loved the idea of a park or something to get us out and active, but I realize it is going to be a meet and greet for the first meeting, so a community room or restaurant makes sense.

Let me know if I can help!

Cheers,

Mary

Hey everyone,

I am very interested in meeting, also. Has anyone set up a meeting? I see lots of suggestions but no definate meeting plans. How many times can I say meeting? LOL. I have no preference. Any place, any time, to meet some fellow banders and share support.

Okay, BigBaby! You know I luv ya, but how the heck is Dallas central for DFW?!?!? LOL HEB or Arlington, maybe! (Yes, MY neck of the woods! :tongue2:)

I like the park/walk idea! River Legacy Park is in North Arlington and has miles of great paved trails in a gorgeous setting.

But I'll go anywhere to meet up with some fellow bandsters, so count me in.

BTW, there is a get together this evening at Mercado Juarez at Matlock & I-20 at 6:30pm tonight. Lap Band Support group meeting that gets its own meeting room and is open to any who want to show up. I have never gone to ANY and I think I might go.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
