OK got a fill on January 26th. This gave me a total of 2.2cc in a 4cc band. I felt restriction but nothing major. Have had a couple of minor episodes of PB about 2 days after the fill but nothing since till a week ago. Now I have MAJOR restriction. I have a hard time eating mushie foods sometimes. I can't eat hardly any meats unless they are like liquid before swallowing. (Sorry for the grossness but hey,...) I ate 7 cheetos, yes 7 the other day and was FULL to the brink of PBing. I did not drink anything while eating the cheetos. I let them melt in my mouth too.

Other than the high restriction I am doing great. I just wonder if all the rainy weather might make the restriction so high? Anyone else experience this phenom? If not do any of you think I might be too tight? And what gives with it waiting till NOW to let me know I am too tight? It has almost been 4 weeks now.

I am not complaining too much cause I am eating less but don't wanna hurt myself if I am too tight.

Boy, this band keeps us on our toes, doesn't it? Sounds like you definitely have restriction. Perhaps keep an eye on it for a few days and see if it gets any better. I know at one point I was pbing on even Water. Just removing. 0.2cc made all the difference in the world.

I've been told sinus congestion can make us feel more restricted. So who knows, the weather might too. Do we have any weathermen/women on the board that can explain "barometric pressure"? Oops, almost typed bariatric. LOL

Hope you have good restriction, without being miserable.

There is that fine line between good restriction and being miserable isn't there! I will just be more diligent over the next few days and wait till this front rumbles through and see what happens. If it doesn't improve after that I will go have some taken out. SIGH!!

Penni any problems with reflux or heartburn? Consistent PBing? If no to both then I think you are OK ..as long as you are eating your hard Proteins even if it is taking forever to do so, but if you have resorted to soft foods and liquids then maybe you are a tad too tight. Ortiz tells me if I resort to soft foods and liquids becasue I am afraid to eat solids then Iam too tight, if I have consistent reflux or heartburn then Iam a tad too tight..Luckily for me I have had neither.

Yes to you other question about the weather. I think it plays a big role in it for me, and there have been women here who have gotten fills and months later became too tight and had to get an unfill Sultana is one of those women here. Could it be that this is true restriction? One of the people who had there band right after me had had 2 fills and thought he was doing greathahad lost 30lbs in 6 months and had fabulous restriction until he got his last fill with me on Jan 17th, his exact words were .." Now this is restriction" He never knew what true restriction felt like until this last fill. He has been losing the 1-3 lbs a week like you are suppossed to if following the rules..so maybe this is what is happeneing to you??

Penni this is a crazy question, but even though you can't eat anymore are you hungry? My problem is I wait too long between meals and then shove something in my mouth and THINK I've chewed enough then swallow and it doesn't settle right, then there goes the meal...may I have a to go box please.

Problem is I'm still hungry, but I'm so aggrivated I can't eat the hunger passes. I'm due for another fill next week and as long as I eat slower and chew more I can eat a bunch. You'd think I'd know better by now, it's been almost 3 months.

Penni, this second fill Ive had has also thrown me for a loop. 4 weeks post fill - I had lots of restriction, lots of pb's and reflux; BUT - I stayed hungry... go figure!

I finally had to "start over". Liquids & mushy's for about 4 days, then introduce solids again. I realized that with all the pb's and reflux - everything was swollen and I couldnt tell if I was just too restricted or doing something else wrong.... like a cycle of events. (This is when I started getting addicted to cappuccino's :D )

Anyway, it took me a couple of weeks to calm down my system .

Yea Paula, that hunger part is a big bummer, but then again so are the pb's, which I call sliming, lol. My weakness is chili, I'm so over chili, but it has never made me pb or the least bit uncomfortable, my true soul food.< /p>

Thanks everyone for your input. Just goes to show you that you can always learn new things with this journey. Michelle, I think that you hit the nail on the head. This is TRUE restriction. Before I had some but not like this. This reminds me of when I was first banded. I am getting in my Protein just really really slow. LOL!! And believe me I am taking it real slow these days. NO reflux and no heartburn either thank goodness. If that starts I will go back to liquids and call Billy for an unfil. And No I am not hungry between meals. NOT AT ALL. I am waiting longer between meals now to allow the pouch to be more empty. Anyway, thanks for all your input. I will keep you updated.

I have the varying levels of restriction too, and I haven't even had any more fill since the band was placed. It's been nearly 5 months for me, and at any given time my band will restrict to the point that penni is describing. After a few days, it will relax for a few days, then next thing I know, here it goes again.

I find that any time I get sick, or start menses I get tighter. I guess it's a good thing, it keeps me in line with my diet. When it's relaxed, I'm less careful about what I'm eating, when it's tighter I pay more attention to getting in what I need most.

I'm sure the barometer changes could cause it too. My band does seem to be just as fickle as the weather!

I got a fill on the 16th. I still struggle to drink Water (if I get down 1 cup per day, its amazing). I don't dare eat anything solid!!! I feel so full all the time. I have lost 13.3 pounds since the fill. I get the hiccups just from drinking a couple of tiny sips of water! I'm thinking I should get a little fill out. What do you think?

yes that does sound too tight blossom. It's been 5 days today, any relief yet? From what I've read the fills generally kick in stronger a week or 2 AFTER the fill. If you're this tight now, you could be risking aspiration, if you get so tight you can't swallow anything, including your saliva. If you aspirate you're going to end up with a nasty pneumonia, and in the hospital. If you aren't getting better by now, definitely consider removing a cc or 2.

Blossom if you are not eating solids, you are too tight.

The band is designed to be tight enough to eat solids, if you can't then you are too tight. The weight loss is great however, but you also need nutrition, when I had esophagitis and was on liquids, I had a complete blood panel doen and my results showed alot of things like anemia, dehydration, I needed more food and nutrition. I have since had another CBC and things are great! food & nutrition are important

1 cup of Water a day is not goodeither. You do not want to get dehydrated ...a little fill may be needed .2 cc's can make the biggest difference and still give you decent restriction..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
