Looking for Flouroscopy in Houston, TX...2.5 months out and only 10 lbs lost

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any recommendations? I've had one fill so far on Dec 18th 1.4cc. I am still not losing any weight though. I would like to see it under Xray. I can still eat pretty good, and i dont get full as quickly as I believe I should be. I know I should be, but I have not been execising at all. Of course it plays a huge role in my weight loss success, but I think I should still lose at least a few pounds even without exercising. I'm joining a tennis class at a local community college which should help, but other than that I have two toddlers, a full time job, and taking 15 hrs in college and dont have any extra time for a regular exercise routine. Any advice would help. Thanks

I have only lost 12 pounds since surgery on 11/20. Remember that the band isn't designed to work with proper restriction and until that time it is up to us. I got my 2nd fill on Wednesday and I am loving it. Go get another fill and I bet it will help. It is possible to lose saline after your 1st fill which will cause the band to loosen. I lost .5 cc between my 1st and 2nd fill. I now have 4 cc in a 10cc band.

Good luck.

thanks skinny. i went ahead and made the 1st avail fill appt with spiegel on the 29th. way to go on the 12 pounds. i started drinking lots of Water this week, and worked out twice on monday and tuesday, and unbelievably i have lost 3pounds. my scale at home is a little quarky though so i cant wait for dr appt so i can get an official weigh in. have you gone to any support group meetings? if so where? i think that will help motivate me as well.

okay, i've lost another pound and a half. since i cant contribute it to exercise since ive only worked out twice, i have to say it is more than likely due to the water.. i drink about 30 ounces at home in the morning before heading to the office, we have the best crushed ice machine at the office so i have no idea how many Water snowcones i make throughout the day, at least 4 or 5 at a minimum and then ive been drinking no less than 30-40 ounces at night as well. i really think the water is doing the trick..

That is great! I am so happy the scale is moving for you. I am planning to attend the support group today from 2 - 4 at Central Market. It is the Houston Area Bandsters group. This will be my 1st meeting.

I have great restriction right now but I am not drinking enough Water. You have inspired to drink more Water.< /p>

2.5 months is 10 weeks and you lost 10.5 pounds? My doc said the target loss is 1-2 pounds a week, so you are averaging 1 a week, that is good as you are steady.

Hi all,

Its Dr. Garwood. I am working at the Urgent Doc in Nacogdoches Texas most days but I am also still doing fills. If you need to reach me call the clinic and ask for me 936-560-9898 or reach me on my cell at 979-575-7740. I just wanted to remind everyone that I do fills on foreign lapbands as well as local lapbands. I have reasonable prices and want to keep you from having to make a trip back to Mexico. I do most of my fills in Lufkin, Texas. Call if you have any questions or would like to make an appointment. I look forward to your calls.

Thanks

GGarwood, DO

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
