A question for all teachers.

I am a teacher ass't wth preschoolers. I set my surgery date in August knowing it would be easier for me & the school/class t do it over a school break. I could've don it in Seotember, but after hving te summer off, doing over break semed like a good choice & it worked quite well for me.

I had m surgery on Dec 20, just a couple of days before our winter break & had off until Jan 2. DEFINATLEY needed the rest the first 3-4days, by the middle of week 2, I think I could have gone back. Felt great to be back, just took it easy, no lifting. I asked the children to be careful of my tummy were I had stitches they were curious, but careful.

I mis-spoke when I posted earlier-- My surgery is Thursday and I am back to teaching Tuesday... whew, this might be pushing it but I hate to use the sick days, I guess I'll just see how I feel.

My bigger concern is that I will be flying from Mexico to Alaska on Sunday (3 days after surgery). Man oh man, that might be a long flight!

I am not a teacher.I am a school bus driver. I couldn't drive for two weeks following surgery. I was able to get mine done 12/26/07 and only had to take off till 1/6/08. I only had to take 3 days off. With that weekend following the three days, I had my two weeks. Our contract states that you do not need a work release to come back ,unless you take 5 or more days off. Good luck. Work with the doc and maybe they can squeeze you in during spring break. I didn't let but a couple people know before surgery, but after it was done I found that those who found out have only given me more encouragement to suceed.

I had my surgery December 17th and went back to school the 7th.... I am a band/orchestra teacher so my job is very physical.... I could have gone back after two weeks had I taken it easy.

I let my principal/assistant principal know I was having surgery and would be missing plenty of school in the fall semester because of pre-op stuff .. but I did not go into specifics.

Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
